haha, I like a kit called S.O.L. :D Adventure Medical puts together some great kits. What is it packed in?

So is this just smaller than the other "ritter" kit they make? What are the content differences? Price?

Actually it looks larger than the ritter pocket pack, at least thicker and in a different style case. It looks like a roll top water proof pouch.

I wonder if it could double as a water bag in a survival situation?

I listed contents and it cost me $20+shipping....bag measures about 5" wide and 6-8"high and top is open and you roll it down and it becomes water proof sealed up tightly and the top has a stiched in strap with buckle to keep it from unrolling or used to attach it to gear...I added a firesteel to mine and a SAK .it is larger that the ritter kit hard to beat for the $..

Sounds like a good deal. It's fun putting PSK's together, but they can nickel and dime you. I like Adventure Medical products-- no junk in there.

I can't imagine what it would be like to find yourself in a tight spot and whip out your packaged survival kit to find it full of cheap crap. Nooooooooo!

That looks like a good kit for the price. Add some nylon masons line for shelter and I think you would have all your bases covered for under $25. I like the addition of a fire steel and SAK too.

Trout..I forgot to mention I added about 20ft of 550paracord behind the survival blanket ..but i may swap it for your idea instead takes up less room/bulk.

yea good idea on the tinder but the bag gets really tight after poking all the extras in......may gain space after the para cord swap..

interesting, mine has a different whistle than the one you have pictured.

those do look pretty cool.... i was reading a review on them a few days ago... i have one of the AMK pocket suvival paks...
http://www.equipped.org/etsbriefings407.htm

wow, that was an eye opener. i chose to ignore the difficulty of packing and unpacking against the grippy rubber, the inclusion of only four pieces of tinderquik, but i didn't bother checking the matches which would have broken the camel's back.

however, my whistle was solid and my fishing kit neatly wound with four hooks.

magnum22,mine and yours has the same whistle..that was the factory picture pulled from the website ,I ordered from...the whistle that is shipped now is a upgrade from the reviews about the whistle. to me MO is the quality is there in this little kit,and I would buy another just hafta add my own little touches as to any psk sold on the market no matter the brand or person selling them.

yeah, i made a few changes to mine last night. i added a few yards of plastic twine (which coincidentally saved the day today) my photon light, and i'm back and forth between a mini bic and book of matches since it provides more in a slimmer package than the tube supplied.

though i haven't used them in a while, i like matches. you drop em in and they keep burning. may not last as long as tinderquik but they last long enough.

nice pre made bags...interested to see what else is out there and how good of quality they are...

without a doubt the SOL kit will hold more than the tin can versions but they all come pre-made kinda basic items and no matter which one you pick up,you will add more items to it...
