You all know the anxiety of waiting for your newest knife, and getting no love from the mailman, but, in the meantime, to pass the time, and channel some of this energy, here are pics of 2 sweet knives I just picked up from Phillip (AKA NotDos) of Classic G&K. He takes a poretty mean picture too. :)

The first is an outrageous small 5" bowie from Harvey Dean MS. The ivory needs no further description from me, just look at it! The ornate engraving with lots of 18k gold inlay is by MS Steve Dunn. This one promises to be sweeeeeeet! Where is that damn mailman!!! :)

The next is less fancy, but no less appealing, a 4" sole authorship engraved stag small bowie/hunter from Ron Newton, the stag is clearly top notch, as is Ron's engraving, I like the sharp top clip, gives the knife a bowie look, despite its being small for a bowie. I'll call it a "Bowie-ish hunter" :)

Now, if the package would just get here already, I could come down off my windowledge. :)

So that's where the Dean knife went!

Ari, you got two sweet ones there, but I think you already knew that.

Waiting on two this week myself. Come on big brown truck!!

Ahhhh, normally, you'd have a very good point, but, we do receive USPS overnights on Sunday, just not apparently THIS Sunday! :(

So, I'll just go another night without sleep, no biggie. :)

Man those are nice. When the thread came up and I saw the photos it made me gasp. What a score.

I think that we could do with a special ongoing thread.... no, make that a forum !!! :) For "Knives arriving today".
Isn't it strange how we can all identify with each other on this one.
Now..... where IS that postman with this one????
Cheers

Ari,

That's about as nice a pair of knives as one could hope to get all at once. Beauties for sure.

Rod,

I got to play with that folder at Chris Carlson's table at the SOS show - it very nearly made me break my self-imposed "fixed blades only" rule. You're gonna love it! :D

I had another major score this week too, but no pics yet, some guy named Primos... :)

Ari,

Congratulations both are stunning!

Rod,

That puppy has tempted me too many times. :D Glad it went to a good home!

I'm told by the post office that it will be in my hands in the morning. It's carbon steel.... so I hope you didn't drool too much over it Roger ;)

I had a chat with Bailey on the phone about this one. (Heck, a long distance phone call from the UK was worth it). It is one that he made in 1997, originally without the engraving. It was returned to him a few years later by the original owner to have the engraving added.... and finally it found its way into Chris's hands earlier this year.

Now I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas :)
Cheers

ps. and yes Bastid.... I'm going to love it

No worries - I travel with a bib or just such occasions. ;)

Well.... that parcel arrived this morning that should have contained my Bailey Bradshaw knife (plus another small knife)

And.... I am spitting blood.
The parcel had been opened (and then taped up again), and instead of two knives, there was just one. The Bailey Bradshaw was missing. One empty space in the box. (Inset, the knife that should have been there).

Oh man,

That is a kick in the gut. :grumpy: I do hope you had it sent insured. That is just a major drag - I feel your pain.

Roger

Sorry to hear about that. That is HORRIBLE! I wish I could give you some advice... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Matt

Oh man. That hurts me and it is not even my knife:(. I hope that some how some way it will show up.

Yes... it was sent insured. But that is probably part of the problem.
The packet clearly advertises that the contents are "Cutlery" worth $915 and in addition there was a sticker on the packet from customs charging $402 extra. Obviously much too tempting for some postal employee born out of wedlock.

I spent much of the day trying to chase it up. But the Post Office don't give me much encouragement or hope that they will trace the culprit, never mind find the knife.

In retrospect, I think that there is a lesson to be learned here. Don't send valuables through the postal system with the correct value on the packet! Arrange separate insurance that is not with the postal services. :(

That just makes me sick. Ron I am so sorry. That folder was really getting well traveled and I was looking forward to hearing from you on it.

Some people are just trash and don't deserve to breath air. I hope you can get some sort of restitution over this and perhaps the knife will surface on E-bay or similar venue. I will keep my eyes open for it.

Hi Bailey..... you just don't know how much I was looking forwards to receiving it. At this time I feel pretty devastated. Chris is trying to do something about the insurance for me, and that will help, but it doesn't really solve the problem about the loss of something that is unique... and of course, it is your baby too. :(

Regards
Rod
