Got it at an Academy Sports store grand opening, they had a $10 off $25 coupon. Been buying knives for my son to build his collection up with all the "must haves" for a pre-teen. He doesn't have a SAK yet, so now he does :)

It's a 13 function Victorinox Camper. I think he will enjoy it like I did when I was a kid. A SAK was one of my first knives and I was enamored with that thing.

You can beat a classic cellador Vic like the tinker, recruit, or camper for the price.
My first true Swiss army type knife ( I don't really count the classic ) was the recruit I bought myself in November for 17$ at the local hardware store.

Modern stuff is so trendy nowadays, but if you teach him the virtues of it's other functions and how well it's thinly ground blade performs, I'm sure he'll always remember it and may be a lifelong Victorinox user.
If he learns how a two handed opening knife gives you the opportunity to think about the cutting task at hand, chances are he'll never start to hate two hand opening and will likely always want to at least have a Vic paired with his modern folder.

What an awesome dad.

For what it's worth, I have recently fallen in love with SAKs all over again.

I carry a Cadet Alox every day at work.
