Picked up a couple new (to me) knives today

I've been a lurker on BF for a while, but decided today was the day to finally create an account.

I was visiting one of my fav pawn shops (where I usually look for used SIG Sauers) and both of these knives were in the display case. A heavily-used Benchmade 520 (which I'm shipping to Benchmade tomorrow for tune-up/sharpening) and a ZT 0551 (number 0566 of 1000) with the "clear ice" green scale. It's razor sharp and looks barely used. The shop owner offered me both for $200 out the door (tax included). It was too good a deal to pass up.

What's going on with the ZT's clip? Don't they usually have the Skyline clip (Gen 1) or the deep carry on the Gen 2s?

Congrats! Ya done good!

Thx! I've got a few other knives... a clutch of Ka-Bars, a Hinderer XM-18, a few Gerbers and SOGs, and an assortment of Benchmades (including my fav EDC: carbon fiber scaled Tanto Osborn)... but I paid full price for all of those. :)

I found another photo (that's not my wrist and I carry tip up) of a similar looking clip on a website that sells Ti bits, so I'm guessing it's an aftermarket bit.

Interesting! Thanks for doing the research for me. ; ) I know the skyline clips weren't super popular on this knife (I assume that's why they changed it up for the Gen 2), so an aftermarket clip would make sense.

Didn't want you to have bought a clone or something thinking it was just a slammin deal. Glad you got the real thing.

Oh, but I've been foolish! This is an 0551, which never got an update. It was a short run (~1000) in Elmax and a different G10 pattern before they did the 0550, which I believe only ever came in S35VN in both generations.

So you really did get a good deal! Those 0551s aren't too common anymore, far as I know.

Sorry for blathering on a bit haha, I piqued my own interest. Enjoy your new knives!
