Picked up a new 124 today

I wonder why the 124 is not on Buck's website yet, or will it just stay in the dark shadows of space somewhere. I must say I must be driving the online dealer nuts I usually deal with, because I have asked several times about the 124 and they just seem to think they will appear out of thin air one day.

too funny about the natural markings certificate. That was my first thought when I saw that picture.

The handle is black linen micarta...as close to the original (before we switched to laminated wood) as we could get. Dimensions should be spot on to those older ones. Was talking to Billy Bates the other day and he said they are identical to what he actually worked on back in 72-73

Oregon,
It weights 13.3oz by itself, 4 more oz for the sheath to take it to 17.3 (on a very unofficial kitchen scale).

Blade to the hilt is 6 and 5/8in long and 11.75in overall.

It's a chunk of a knife, in the classic way which really appeals to me!

Beautiful. My heart's desire. Thank you ohen & CJ. Gotta get one. Nothing I don't like about it...

Comes in the Limited Edition box which worries me if they are really a limited run since I would like another 1 or 2 of them.

Blade markings are the std affair, nothing special. Handle is huge, however, I don't have an older model to compare it with, will do that the next time I see my Brother.

Will try to get pics up later.

You should feel very special, looks like you are still the only person that has a 2012 124.

I was able to compare it to my brother's older version today. They are close in may ways. However, the handle on his is a good bit thinner, feels much better and less square in your hand. Also, the hilt on the new ones is more tear drop in shape than the older ones which were an oval. I wish they would have stuck with the thinner, less square handle. No gain/loss to me as far as the hilt change though.

You better have big hands!

I have big hands and like a bigger handle on a knife, so I look forward to the handle on the 2012 124. I want to say thanks to you for all the outstanding pics you took of the 124, thanks again.

Google these key words & you will see cost: buck heritage frontiersman

I share your excitement.

Far better price than what most thought they would have to pay! I keep hoping my online dealer I like to buy from gets them. I keep asking and all they can say is most likely, WTF!
