Picked up a new knife storage chest >>

Nice aquisition!

I too wanted a nice container to keep my knives in, and luckily my wife and mother-in-law found an old machinists tool chest (solid oak) at an estate sale, and bought it for me. This one was well-used (needed to be refinished), still had a number of taps and dies as well as an abundance of metal filings

The folks running the sale had no idea what it was really worth, and my wife ended up paying $25 for it :D

I love a chest like that. And the drawers can help organise any collection in a most attractive manner.

I've also collected wristwatches for several years now and wanted to store my watches and associated items in the chest as well. That's why I ended up with the larger of their four models. I initially figured I'd use it just for knives and was considering the smaller, three drawer model. Then I realized how much 'stuff' I've got in various containers, leather watch storage cases, dresser top valets, etc.

Now, I've got a drawer (or two) for designated watch & spare straps/bracelets, spring bars, tools, etc. And another couple of drawers for knives and associated tidbits.

I'm just so...organized now!

FWIW - Gerstner boxes don't have drawer stops. I have a Gerstner. I thought the mirror was in case you had the box up high on a shelf and used the mirror to see whe you have stored in the top without taking the chest down.

When I started collecting, I told myself I won't have more knives than that which fit comfortably in the box. I once posted that I was getting too many knives to fit in the box. The response? Get another box!!

I just said the same thing. I got the eight drawer box...I'll *never* fill this one! Lets see what happens a couple of yrs down the road, huh?

You'll probably end up like me. So far - THREE boxes, and it's starting to look like I could start another. If I do get another, some piece of furniture is going to have to leave my office. I'm amazed I got three chests in here as it is! And, of course I thought the same thing as everyone else - how could I possibly fill this huge chest?! HA!!! Very easily!
