Picked up a nice torx set today

I get mine from Lowes $5 . I love it

T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15

I got this one first, rounded off the T6 in a couple of days (maybe half a dozen knives). Returned it and got a very similar Kobalt set that's held up through several dozen knives so far. The handle looks the same, but is ratcheting, the bits are single ended instead of double, and they're chrome finished instead of grey. It has T4-9, I believe (maybe 5-9) as well as a mix of hex, flat, philips, and some weird peace sign lookin' head I'd never seen before. About the same price. If it starts to round off, I'll spring for Wihas.

Benchmade's blue kit is pretty good, had mine for over two years now. Still in good shape, the clips do loosen up though. Other than that, Im satisfied with it.

I want something that's easy to use and hard to lose.

That eliminates the individual bits like the BM blue box.

The BM folding torx and screwdriver set is ok, but more expensive and the ridiculous little sharpener broke off out of the box. That aside, works fine, and, of course, has both hex and torx bits. It's probably my second favorite of this list.

The little Kershaw thingy does suck.

I have the Eklind No. 22572 with T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15 and T20.
It's a little stiff to open but works just fine. It's a good, sturdy choice.

My favorite is still the folding torx kit that I started with: the GorillaGrip No. 12632.

It has everything I've ever needed: T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15, T20 and T25.

It was cheaper than the Eklind and the green plastic handle is lighter than the Eklind's metal handle. The bits aren't intended for heavy duty. Look elsewhere for that.

But the compact Gorilla is the easiest to open, close and use. If I had only one tool for my folders, this would be it.

I don't recommend the Kobalt one from lowes.

Home depot's Husky brand are 10x better, they last a lot longer.

(PS I use microprecision tools for work every day, over 5 years in my business business)
I have this one and broke a torx the first time I used it. Good thing is that I walked in and got another one under warranty. This one has laster longer.

Def agree I tried a few craftsman torx they we're are all horrible and none fit good. Finally did research and bought Wiha 79242. Check that out for anyone looking for a good set of bits and nothing more. They are very nice and after using once you can tell they are good quality and for all you get with that little kit it is worth the price

Astoundingly, Wiha doesn't make a T6 bit in any of its foldout models -- know how many folding knives use a size T6 pivot?

Not a lot. Most use T8 or larger nowadays, even handle screws are getting larger. T6 is still popular for pocket clips though.

I use the same model FateOn3 mentioned, 79242, as my portable set.

Not just pocket clips -- although why you wouldn't want to be able to adjust those is puzzling.

Buck Vantages (large and small) and Kershaw Sapphire, to name just a few folders from my top drawer alone.

And then there's all those pesky T6 screws holding on your scales.

The T6 is a necessary size for pocket knife owners who want a complete set of tools.

Gorilla, Eklind and BM recognize that -- Wiha, unfortunately, does not, in its not-quite all-in-one folding set.

^^ may have to look for one of those...I go through torx sets like crazy...someone needs to make a set of hardened steel bits!

I just recently picked up some Irwin 1" Torx bits, S2 tool steel hardened to 58-62hrc and they fit tighter than my Eklinds did.

The ones i bought from auto zone did OK they rounded a bit because i way overtightened a screw on my car, they were 5-9. Not surprisingly the set i got from wally-world in the red box were all crap and stripped on the first screw they touched.

I too love Wiha. I used to work with some expensive networking gear that would come with one phillips-head Wiha screwdriver in each box, and then bought a Wiha security bit set to work on arcade machines. For my knives, I bought this set and love it:

You can find them online pretty easily, totally worth the money.

I use the Wiha tools as well. #362 series Powerhandle (not the grippy 362)
CRM-72 tool steel hardened to RC60, made in Germany.

droid taking shitty pics lately, but heres the set i bought. i magnetized it and it seeems to hold up prettty well. Nyc7Al.jpg

I went to sears and bought the ones that you can spin while using them. I bought them by the peace so I got only the ones that I needed. never broke one or strip out the haed or screw yet.

At Lowes right now they have a basically the one posted above, but has a whole bunch of bits. I think it regularly goes for $10-$15 but right now (holiday sale) they have it for $5. I picked up two.

The clip screws on my 0350 are crap (sorry), but I haven't damaged them with the tools.

I'll look into some of the better offerings that you guys have pointed out if (when) these crap out, but I wanted something right away and these are cheap and easy.
