I made a trade with Jeff recently, and picked up this handsome devil:

It’s one of Bryan’s, his CUB model. I feel pretty certain you guys are familiar with it! ;) I’ve been pretty certain that I’d like this blade ever since Bryan and Reuben unveiled it. No disappointments here! Here it is with my M2K for size comparison:

I was really impressed out of the box. The handle is very wide, and very well rounded. As usual, a big deal and a huge plus. The blade shape is a winner too. I’ve found that even though it’s not quite as good as a narrow blade for ‘tight’ woodworking, I still favor a slightly wider/stouter blade. The knife is compact overall, but I was quite pleased with the dimensions. Small enough to carry and not know it’s there, but more than large enough to handle heavy chores comfortably. The design was goal oriented and it shows. In hand:

I think that Jeff spent some time working the edge on this, to raise the shoulder a bit with a convex edge. Definitely a fantastic slicer, it made some solid fuzzies and handled some firewood sectioning without adverse effect.

The sheath (which I neglected to snap a pic of) is very clean-cut. Simple, attractive, effective. A very ‘easy going’ woods walking setup:

Take care!

You lucky bastid! I would have JUMPED on this beauty too! Bryan makes some good knives.

The CUB is an awesome knife. I love mine. I have used it for all sorts of around the house and camp tasks.

Also, I personally think the name is VERY clever. :)

you lucky dog.. that was a nice score... i probably would have picked that one up too...:o i love the wide blde on those... i'm definately going to have to pick one up this year...:D

Wow Spooky that is a handsome devil LOL. Thank you for the kind words.
I am so glad that it fits your hand too. that really makes a difference for me to. If the handle does not feel good then it just does not feel right when you go to use your knife.
Thanks again all for the kind comments on the CUB knife. Reuben really had a great idea for a all round basic outdoor survival knife for himself. It was an honor to work with him on this design and LOL He choose to have his made with Orange scales:thumbup: I really thought that was so cool to. LOL

Bryan

That looks to be a great knife, perfect size and shape.....keep us updated on how it performs !!!

Yep 0-1 steel. I do have some 1095, but I have not made any knives with it yet. Maybe in the next week or so.
