Picked up my first Case knife

I've mostly had newer "tactical" type knives but lately I've been wanting something classy to use as a small EDC blade, instead of using my trusty Delica 4. I always loved the looks of old slip joints, especially Case knives and I finally bit the bullet. I picked up a beautiful Case Stockman (made in '85 from the looks of the markings), in jigged bone. I think this is the start of a new obession :D

welcome to the long slippery slope of financial DOOOOOM

just kidding, nice knife ;) and welcome to traditionals

Very nice. Great start to your collection. The color of the jigged bone on that one is very much in keeping with your user handle ('Toasty'!). ;)

Welcome to the forum! :)

That´s a nice looking Case. Congratz to that one. Is it Chestnut Brown Bone? I own the same Stockman but instead the spey blade mine has a pen blade. It´s about 2010 made.

Kind regards
Andi

Great looking Case. I had one about like that in high school (yes, I used to carry a knife to school even though technically we weren't supposed to). Some @##%$^%&$% stole it from my locker during football practice one afternoon. I still think about that knife from time to time.

Nice find, and welcome to this little corner of BF.

You were smart to buy used, I have a hard time making myself do it, even though I know Case isn't what it once was. We have lazy workers or greedy management here in America, it seems.

I think I'll follow your lead next time I buy a Case.

The American-made Bucks seem to be keeping their standards high; too bad they don't offer any interesting scale materials, or they'd lay the smack down on Case. Except with regards to polishing. Case is the Harley-Davidson of the knife world in that regard. ;)

Well you just put a nail against a coffin...bet you will hammer it in within the next two weeks.

OP Welcome to BF!!!

Trying to keep within a given pricepoint these days is more and more difficult. "New and improved" and "new presentation" etc. always indicate less for more. Welcome to the third world USA. Buying used is a good idea as long as the collectors don't pump up those prices. (too late :grumpy:)

Yep, you pegged it. I used to carry a Kershaw Leek until I found my way over here. I still like the Leek, and it is clipped to my pocket occasionally. However, since January I have obtained nine traditional knives.

The Case Peanut has become my "go to" or first choice pocket knife every day.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say, that is a lovely Stockman you have!

welcome aboard, I too traded my spyderco edc (a Sage 2) for the wonderful and addicting world of traditional knives (currently trading between a SBJ and pocket hunter)

Hi Toasty -

Nice pick-up!

I have had good experiences with Case knives - they make a great product in my opinion.

thanks for the pictures!

best

Welcome to traditionals, and prepare to spend a lot more. :D You've got a nice knife there, with nice scales. Is it carbon steel or stainless?
