Picked up my new .44!!!

Dan Wessons rule ! L:O:L

44s are fun to shoot . Mines got pachmeyer grips . I,d like to try some of those Hogues and see the difference . The Pachmeyers have an uncomfortable split on the back of the grip that gives an uncomfortable feeling . Most indoor ranges around me won,t let the big guns in . Thet claim they are too noisy .

Got .45 Ruger Bisley that will put a big old lead slug right where I want it. It will do everything the .44 mag will do, but the real high end stuff. It sure is a pussy cat to shoot as well.

Well, that Ruger- unless one of the very recent smaller ones- will actually do what the .44 can do, if you're willing to either load or buy stout stuff. That big 'ole case can produce .44-level power at lower pressures. Since the cylinders have less metal than the much smaller ".44" (actually .429), in strong firearms like older Rugers, you probably have similar safety margins.

Search around for what Paco Kelly has to say about it, if you're interested.

I'm a fan of Paco Kelly. One of his articles convinced me to get a Rossi(Puma, actually) '92 Winchester Clone to match the Ruger. A careful handloader can safely attain 32,000 CuP with the Ruger and 50,000 CuP with the '92. The standard pressure loads are something around 15,000 for the cartridge.
