Picking my first SAK

Welcome to the addiction, Locust - SAK's get under your skin - good choice as are about any of the SAK's - I only have one observation about the mini-screwdriver and I own several (probably 6 or so) - If I have to tighten a screw on my glasses - I have to take them off my face - then I can't see anything! - but I agree they are helpful - as to the backspring philips - it's a krapshoot - works great sometimes - not so well others!
Good Luck!

I got a Huntsman when I was 12, about 26 years ago. It was edc most of that time and still is going strong. I have worn glasses most of that time, so the corkscrew driver has proven useful. Here are some other impressions based on 26 years of almost exclusive Huntsman edc:

-least used tools: saw, can opener, corkscrew (no package hook on mine);

-most used: big blade, scissors, driver tips, awl.

I have never broken or damaged anything even during some hard use. I have gone through about four scissor springs, and I did inadvertently "patina" the main blade when I got battery acid on it once.

If I ever replace it, I'd consider getting a model with all of the Huntsman tools minus the saw, but I'd probably just get another Huntsman.

I love my Huntsman and I EDC it. The only thing about mine was when I bought it new, I checked all of the tools on it and the AWL on the back has side to side play in it. I love that knife and was wondering if there is anything to worry about that.

The only SAK I have handy at the moment is my Explorer, but the awl on it is tight. No noticable play. That said, unless yours is loose to the point of being unuseable, I don't think I'd worry about it. Chances are, with regular use, they all will loosen up.

Well finally put the order in. Now the wait beguines. I may do a review on it, but it won't be until I have had a week or two to carry it and get a feel for it.

Just got my explorer yesterday! So far I really like it. I even ended up needing the screwdriver already. The only downside is that I also just clipped my nails so it will be a few days before using it is fully comfortable. But that's my fault.
