What size and brand works well for cutting Ironwood knife scapes? Thinking a bench top is big enough. Thanks everybody. Budget? Under 500 $ my city is full of 150$ 12 inch craftsman today with stnds.

Bad news for you Brother, those benchtop saws won't work on metal at all. They all simply run to fast---and at low torque-for metal sawing you need slow speed and high torque--the most reasonable metal capable bandsaws I have found are from Grizzly--they have a few that are variable speed and are said to be able to cut both wood and metal--you just set the correct speed and change the blade on them. Dedicated metal cutting bandsaws are pretty pricey, but you have to have what you need. I personally have gone with a Milwaukee port-a-band saw on a SWAG table--pretty good rig IMO.

He mentions ironwood. So not for metal I'm thinking. For scale sized wood, most any size band saw will work.

Kdog, I think you are right, poor reading comprehension on my part--if you are just cutting knife scales then any of those benchtop models you mention will work well, I actually have a baby Rikon for exactly that purpose.

If you want something a little more economical, harbor freight has a coupon this month that brings their deep cut band saw down to $99.99. The SWAG 3.0 table fits it.

If you only have one saw in your shop, a portaband type is the one. Imho.
