RR, try out a good slippie. Warning, you will succumb to the slippie addiction in a hurry. No question. ;)

Also, look at Great Eastern Cutlery Scout. Two blades of 1095 steel. Nice size (3 1/2") Great knives.

The guys over at the traditional forum seem to give favorable (surprisingly favorable) reviews of the Rough Rider knives, you can get them at eknifeworks (plus they've got free shipping). They're dirt cheap and have a ton of models, but it won't have the carbon steel we all love. You might go over there and search their forum.

wow great suggestions so far..I went through a slippy phase a while back..I really liked the classic feel and look of them but I could barely find one that didn't have some blade play...That irks me, although I guess it's just par for the course when Dealing with folders...

Almost forgot- Fallkniven makes some really cool non-tactical folders that you might like.

That's the U2, but they've also got the U1 and the TK series. Worth a look too!

It is par for the course, but really doesn't affect the performance at all. Also, if you give the bolsters a few light raps with a mallett........ problem solved........ kind of. ;)

Lately I have been looking a getting a traditional folding knife as well. I'm looking at a sodbuster or a doctor's knife. The sodbuster has timeless good looks and an everday useful blade. It also comes in several sizes. The doctor's knife is just odd but I really dig the spatula, not sure why but looks insanely useful.

Just look at it, goofy isn't it.

THe doctors knife is certainly....interesting...Soddies a good solid knives however...I've even thought about dropping 50 bucks on a mess of opinel 7&8's they are convex ground and have good steel..the stock is a little thin though...I've had an opinel saw for a while that's been great..
