Picking your battles

I had friends who actually spent good money and made a solid decision buying a becker or two...if course they don't know how to use it, sharpen it or even hold it but...lol

Buying the "best" and not knowing how to use/maintain it is WORSE IMO. I'd much rather have a conversation with a guy that pulls out a razor sharp Gerber than someone who pulls out a butter knife dull Busse. Any idiot with money can buy a thing.

To the OP: Good for you. Even if he was "just joking," people like that just aren't worth hanging around or talking to. But maybe that's just me. I've long given up pissing contests.

About an hour ago I was helping a friend put on a steering wheel cover at an auto parts store. (I ran into him there and was being a nice guy I wasn't with him)
He's one of those people that you talk to, but don't spend time with because you're not sure if you like them. :D
As were walking to his car he spotted my Delica clipped to my pocket. He poked it with the steering wheel cover and said:
"I got a knife that would make that thing look like a freaking toy."

Keep in mind this guy is really cocky, and I know him well enough to know it wouldn't be something high end.
Now usually this is where I take it out and start explaining the features and the price etc., but I chose to just say "yeah ok" and change the subject.
It wouldn't have gotten me anywhere to start an argument.
You guys been here before?

If he said that to me I would of joked back and replied: "Sure, let me see your cheap flea marker/gas station knife"

Maybe you need to develop thicker skin or stop being so delicate, did you go home and cry under your pillow after he insulted your precious spyderco knife?

It appears that you have expressed the same opinion in two separate posts now. And in this one you are acting like a jerk. Bladeboss didn't say he was offended by what the guy said, nor that it upset him in any way, so your comments about developing "thicker skin" and "being so delicate" are out of place.

I apologize for acting like a jerk. I just got the impression that bladeboss felt the other guy disrespected his taste in knives and also disrespected him.....maybe the guy hurt his feelings or made him angry. It all just sounds so petty that the guy made a comment about his knife and bladeboss didn't like the comment and felt offended.

In that situation I would have asked what the knife was, mainly out of curiousity and also because I'm thoughful like that... ;):D

Life doesn't have to being a pi$$ing match so I try to take the high road and allow people their "moment" if you will. Even if they end up being horribly wrong LOL!:cool:

Where did I ever imply that I was offended? I am talking about trying to show someone a quality knife, and deciding not to because it would have started an arguement.

You said it perfectly.
