I kinda botched my first post, wasn't sure about posting pictures without a membership, pictures weren't very good, so now that I know what I'm doing  and I brushed up on my foto-grafy skills, I will give it a 2nd try, the knives are in the order I finished them, with the first three being hand filed and hand sanded (I'll never do that again)

also I am looking to get a better satin finish on the spine and stopping at 600 grit really isn't giving me what I want and 1000 grit is getting to shiny, and when you get right down to it, both look like a bunch of scratches in a straight line.

I have been looking at non woven klingspor belts, will they produce a less directional looking satin finish?

I'm starting my first few knives that way but I already started to save some money up for a belt sander because If I like it and stick with it i'm sure i'd want some nicer toys lol.... But for you first several knives that stuff looks great to me

Ya I knew right away I wanted a 2x72 grinder, all that hand work is for the birds, but the part that really rocked me back on my heels were the prices, 2 grand 3 grand, so being a handy guy I decided to build my own, every thing except the mounted bearings, contact wheel, and idler wheel was free, I have less then $200 in the whole thing, so as you can see, available materials took precedence over design....big time LOL

my boys and I affectionately call her FRANKINGRINDER

I have one more thing to add to old Frankie , I am going to move the motor and drive pulley to the center and add a disk grinder and rest to the drive shaft on the left side
