PICS Added - Please help me identify a Benchmade knife?

Maybe it was just misstamped. My Bali has that on the butterfly.

I've honestly never seen that on a Benchmade folder. I've tried finding info on this knife, but so far I've only seen the stuff that is available online (what was already posted).

The wife is calling me to watch a movie with the family..Thank all of you for helping me figure out that it is an ASCENT knife. I'll measure the blade when it arrives and figure out the exact model.

as far as I know the early Benchmade's ( after they changed from PCC) said Bali-Song on the Butterfly logo for a while? I think cutlerylover has it in one of his vids? I know that some of them said Bali-song on the butterfly for sure! Don't throw it away, send it to me! :D:D I think the ascent was an earlier model? Am I correct? I'll check some sources!

Thanks for the input shelbyguns. I bought the knife from a trusted forum member so I was kidding when I said it was a knock off. Seeing the Bali-Song label threw me off a bit as I had not seen that on anything except for the bali knives.
Much Appreicated any details that can be uncovered.

Do the picture links of the one I posted look like an authentic Benchmade?

I'm no expert, and
I don't own one, but it seems ok to me? The steel ID being on the other side, is probably because it is a shorter knife than the other one shown, and they ran out of room on the other side? I'm just theorizing here.

yes early benchmade folders all had the butterfly logo with the word bali-song in it, I have an accent mini with that logo...you see them on ebay often...sometimes they get deleted and the auctiosn are canceled due to the confusion since butterfly knives (balisong) auctions are no longer permited on ebay...but they seems to let the trainers stay on there...

Thanks CL. i enjoy your vids too :)

The model was known as the Eclipse. BM had to change the name to Ascent (for copyright issues or something)
Models were:

820SBT

830
830S
830BT
830SBT

840
840S
840BT
840SBT

As mentioned above the stampings were changed later.

YOU! ! ! I bought that knife from you!!! And I love it :)
It's a mint little knife. I'm glad I bought it too, thanks.
So that means that my knife would be a bit older than the one Viking put up right?

I have a couple of Benchmade Leopard knives, bought back in the early or mid '90s. They also have the 'Bali Song' within the butterfly logo, on ATS-34 blades.

I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. Mine was the Ascent, from before the name change, and stated on the box that the round opening hole was licensed from Spyderco. Aside from the clip screw inserts pulling out of the Zytel handle once, it has been a good knife.

It reminds me slightly of a mini sized Military. I have not carried the knife, I have left it as more of a collection piece.

From the pictures, would all of you consider this more of a scarce collector's piece and one best put up and not carried?...or is it a pretty common knife that was produced in such quantities that I should feel free to carry and use it?

I would consider it a out of production "classic", to some extent. I don't think Benchmade uses ATS-34 steel anymore, they moved to 154CM (in composition it's very similar). It's hard to speculate on whether the value would increase or not. Personally, I think mine is a little small for daily use. I prefer to carry a heavier, larger blade.

If I had that knife (the one you have) I would not put it into a steady rotation of use. It would be sad to lose such a nice blade.

Thanks RevDevil - I may just put it up when it arrives to keep it looking good and continue EDCing my AFCK 806D2.
