You can tell that this area gets some "proper weather" when you see the shape of the Trees on the walk back down......

I used to drive through that area every week, its a fantastic area, so much to see.
 
jeroboam, have you got a map reference for the old shepherd? I'm just trying to find it on the OS map. Thanks!

Great pics of some great terrain there buddy, the fact that the SAS train in Wales speaks volumes for how tough some of it is eh !!!!

I was driving over the top of the mountain just a couple of miles from there once when I saw some bloke running along in a full ghillie suit. I wonder what he had done to upset the sergeant!

It's not a new thing either, there are the remains of Roman Army training camps up there too.
