Nice view! Closest water to me is a few miles away and not that pretty.

I really love that lake, Percy Priest outside of Nashville. The Corps of Engineers bought and owns all the surrounding land; it's mostly undeveloped, so it feels like a wilderness oasis. Unlike other lakes, instead of houses everywhere, trees drape the shoreline. You can even see the green border in the picture below. It gets decent traffic in the summer, but you still feel like you're outdoors instead of in someone's back yard. Last year, a buddy and I paddled the lake from its headwaters to the dam, a trip of about 25 miles. Here's a GPS track of our route. We spent one night primitive camping on one of the islands.
