Pics from todays ride and a lesson in humility

Oh hell yeah man!!! Those old school Rockhoppers are too cool!!!

Yeah Ive been in it awhile, thats cool you are too!

Dude my motobecane is a 74 grand touring, in mint condition. Its a badass bike. baby blue mettalic with gold pinstripes around the lugs on the frame, too cool. I love vintage bikes.

j williams, you had a bad luck and sorry for unexpected hike.
But front flat tire is much worse than rear that I think you had relatively good luck.
Maybe there could be a case of serious crash and breakage of some bones (which happened to me
some years ago :( ).

Very true man....It couldve been alot worse. My buddy was amazed at the time I made hiking it out. I never mind a good hike.

Ive broke a few bones on a bike, its not fun. :( especially when I rode out once with a broken collarbone. :o

The stuffing the tire with grass trick actually works. I had a similar experience seven miles up a local trail. It was actually my second flat of the day. Stupid thorns in the trail really got me that day. I stuffed the tire with grass and headed back down. It kept compressing, so I had to do it two more times, putting in more and more grass. Sucked pretty good, but it was better than walking.

Damn Jake! Sorry to hear your ride turned into a walk..

You know for $1500, you can probably get a bike with a motor in it.... I'm just saying...:p

That sucks, Jake. At least you have the stones enough to man up and talk about it. I'm heading to the bike shop today for the SS conversion!!! I can't wait.
I decided not to do it myself.

I reckon that for the rest of your life, you'll never, ever omit to pack at least one spare tube!

Tough learning curve (learning hike!).
