Sometimes the little guy with horns whispers sweet nothings in my ear....... I have already said too much....

Alright, since you guys are so in need of more than what you've been given, and even though it will more than likely get me in trouble with the boss, I'll give a very special sneak peek of part of one of the super secret knives.

Sorry Boss, I know this will get me a phone call and a stern talking to, but it had to be done, they demanded it!

This is a photo of my Boulder Colo. Wesrern W-49.

Mossyhorn I envy you for having such a knife. But technically NOT a W49. This is the 649. They first introduced this knife in 1968. I can't pin down how long they made it but it disappears from Westerns catalogs and price lists before 1977. So yes it's absolutely a Boulder Colorado knife. The handle is made of Delrin. it's what Western started using by the 60's for their bone/stag handles, (that's what the 6 stands for in the stock number).
Also the blade on these knives are made of stainless steel in stead of carbon steel. Eventually Camillus switched the blade material from high carbon to stainless steel in the W49's around the mid 90's after they acquired the rights to Western Cutlery.
I've seen so very few of these knives. Your's appears to be in great condition. I expect that the guard of your knife is marked on the side opposite of the Western/Boulder Co. markings with either 649/Stainless Steel or 649-S.
So far these are the only variations on markings in the few knives I've seen.
