Pics of customized production knives

I am wanting to know how to,or where to find a tut link for the way you guys are
making the ground out sections on your handle material?.Not sure what you'd call it...
Modified handle,but how?.....some type sander?..if so,what does
it take?...I really like it with,or without the swirl look....

thank you,jd

Allright,Thanks a bunch for the tutorial...I am happy to say I have
every single item he used except the G10...I'll have to track some down
and give it a try......
I wonder has anyone done it with wood?...Wood like a burl,or a maple?
Or would that not be a good idea?...It may not look good using wood....
Just wondering cause I have some of that...

Thanks again for answered question...Now I will quit clogging the Thread
with my nonsense....

This is probably the best place to look for (unless you have local dealer)

No local dealer I am aware of....I will be getting some for sure...
But what is weird,I use to collect knives as kid....My favorite was a black handled
single blade TREE BRAND trapper with red shield....Lost it back in 80s,not been able
to find one since...
Well, what I was going to say, started back into pretty heavy few years back...I got to
doing a little research, found out the president of the N.C. knifemakers Guild lived less
than a mile from me.....I had been by his house hundreds times....SMALL WORLD..I hear that..

Said I was gonna quit asking questions, well one more...
Can ,or has anyone tried polymer clay as handle material?..Stuff seems to dry with no shrink?
May be something to try,if not already.....

Again, outta here with my stupid questions, and rants...I just received a balisong made by
Ralph Turnbull...Now how good is that...80,and still making knives...

Hi, always enjoyed this thread. Full of really amazing handsome modifications.

2015.01.04.DSC08315.JPG

As a hobby knife making man, I replaced the handle scales of a kitchen knife of 16 years old.
The scales are canvas micarta and the construction is single stainless fixture bolt with three hidden pins and G10 liner.
The knife is Misono carbon steel blade.

I know what you mean. I did this one for the wife....
Black and blue G10 with Basket weave texturing
(She loves it)

Wow your customized handle has such a nice texture! Really amazing work as usual, Keyman.

Not as great as yours but so far my wife also loves the new handle.

That looks mint, mate! did you do the handle job?

I really wanted one of these a while back, and I'd love one in something full scaled like yours, maybe in something fancy like a stylish wood or real bone etc.

Can we have a peek at some more shots?? :D

looks good to me....

Looks pretty good to me. This was a cheap tractor supply knife I wanted to try it on.

I've done it with black locust on a friction folder I sold here. It was an inlay with G-10 and it did fine.
