Pics of customized production knives

Looking at all of these makes me want to get my H&K Ally done.
I want the frame to be all titanium, and either have the serrations ground out, or have a new blade made in a better steel.

added a sharpening choil to my Esee 5

I really like the "five" because the cutting edge comes almost all the way back to the handle scales.

That's where the power cuts are made, right at the plunge line.

For me, the mod takes away valuable real estate where I need it most.

I guess that if your trying to keep the coating pristine while re-profiling the edge, it helps;

...in a user, the coating is the last thing to worry about, I would remove it from the primary bevels to improve cutting efficiency.

Hard to think the the low visibility coating is any real benefit on a knife with a Blaze orange handle.

But, if the mod works for you, that's what matters; and it is well done.

Started drinking and decided to fix the only thing wrong with my Rukus. God I wish this deep carry clip fad would just go away.

I wanted one for a couple of years, finally got lucky. It's definitely a user, but I dig the silver twill inserts and the price had me running for my wallet!

What is the purpose of that? I've never heard of it.

A sharpening choil prevents the edges of my wetstones from getting rounded by the transition of the steel from the edge to the blunt part of the knife.
On the 3rd pic you see the knife on a wetstone.
Many knives have a sharpening choil, just look at every sak blade...

Allow me to explain a bit more why I did this. The choil didn't take any steel from the edge, and helps the beginning of the edge get really sharp where the standard edge is hard to shrapen because of reason I wrote above. Bein super sharp from the very start of the edge really help the powercuts you describe. The mod is not about preserving the coating as thatĺl get damaged anyway, it's about saving your stones and get a sharp edge from the very beginning. The coating being low visability is not a benefit for me, I like to see my knives when dropped in the bush, hence the orange scale.

The "five" my way:
A Convex Re-Grind.

Nice edge! But no removed coating from the primary bevel like you suggested earlier? ;)

I can see the need to accommodate your sharpening system.

Being a belt and buffer sharpener, I'm better off without the notch.

Yeah, that was a re-profile job done for friend.

No coatings on the bevels of my knives.

Some amazing looking knives here.

Wish I could post pics. But all I have are patinas I've done on carbon steel.

I like snake/fish scale patterns

My BM Fixed Grip with jimping, raised tang, and ramp removed, and linen micarta scales added. Now a very comfortable user:
