Here is a photo I took some time back. I don't really have a favorite book, but this is definitely one I would take with me if I had to get out now for some reason. No picture but my goto hat is a black A.G. Russell cap.

The book in the picture is called inkdeath my favorite in Cornelia Funke's ink world Series....what I find ironic is the fact that its supposedly for "young readers" and yet none of the books in the series are less than 400 pages (the last book is about 700 pages) and has a very dark plot.....great book all the same.

The distinction between fiction for kids and fiction for adults is a modern invention. If you take a look at classic fairy tales, you'll find them to be plenty violent, but you don't know them to be that way because they've all been "sanitized" for modern children (ie: Disney et al.). Romeo and Juliet? Beowulf? The Christian bible? All made to be accessible to children, but just as violent as, say, Grand Theft Auto or whatever it is that people are blaming for increased crime rates these days, but somewhere along the line someone or some people decided that children should be completely shielded from the dangers and unsavory realities of the world. Also, I've found that a lot of children, especially in their preteen years, try to tout the "darkness" of their favorite story as proof of how great it is and boast about how "grown up" they are for reading such "dark" things, but it doesn't change the fact that the stories have been tailored to appeal to their age group and to a certain mindset (eg: the type that wants to prove that they're grown up). Not that that stops a story from being good though.

Also, I find this thread to be very bizarre. Tomorrow, I'm going to open up an EDC + favorite hot sauce thread just because I can.

Sounds good, and probably hasn't been done before. Personally, I find things like glow in the dark golf balls as lobule adornment to be bizarre. This thread is just one that has probably only been repeated once or twice, as opposed to so many that seem to recycle dozens of times.

I don't know. A book and a hat? Seems oddly specific to me. Reminds me of that thread a few months back which asked members what they'd get if they only had $30 for a knife and a meal.

sweet spysercos  and is that the legendary swordsman Musashi, and how is the book just curious thanks:D

One and the same. It has been awhile since I've read it but the book is good. Its basically Musashi's thoughts and beliefs on conflict, strategy, warfare, martial arts, etc. The bushido/Samurai version of "The Art of War" is probably not an entirely inaccurate way to describe it, though it is a significantly shorter book.

We're bringing this thread off topic so I'll just leave it at this, but check outMuso Gonnosuke. Historical accounts vary, but most all indicate that his duels with Musashi were instrumental in leading him to refine and advance jojutsu.

Ok no more texting me about it :p here is my contribution:

Deadmau5 hat
Benchmade 300SSN
X-Men First Class: Tomorrows Brightest
(I know it's not a book but try a hat/music thread and I will have something more interesting)
