Some of you might have seen the trailer for the film, "The Condemned."
(Don't know if it's a good film or not. Not here to promote it).

However, living in NYC, large Ad posters are common as rats in the NYC subway system. One of the early posters for the film showed all of the convicts fighting each other. Huge fistfight.... except for the guy all the way on the left. He had what looked like a large butcher knife in his right hand.

While headed to work Sunday night, I ran into more of the Ad posters for that film.... You guessed it! The knife was no longer present in the guy's hand. I saw this on a handful of the same Ad posters. The poster wasn't ripped, the knife just wasn't there anymore. As if it was airbrushed out of the posters! If you find one, it's obvious there's supposed to be a knife in the guy's hand..... he's holding the "invisible" blade in a saber-grip.

Talk about freaking pathetic! Apparently a picture of a knife is too HARDCORE for the general public to handle. Absolutely pathetic!

Maybe someone realized that it could give us good knife guys a bad name and cleaverly airbrushed over the knife to make sure that it is never percieved as a sole weapon.

be nice to rats ... i like rats ...

He's lost it!!

Oh and as to what i wrote earlier. I live around liberals. Apparently that enables me to know what a liberal actually is. A liberal is someone who lets others live their lives and doesn't stick their noses in other people's business.

Do you think that people who are liberal that is, tolerant, would mind what this particular movie's advertising is? or do you think that people who are conservative, that is, people who expect conformity to their personal standards, would object to a violent movie being advertised in their city? Do you know what liberal even means? I find it absoloutely idiotic that BF is filled with "liberal haters" who point to FASCISTS and call them 'liberals'..

sorry for ranting but this has been getting under my skin for months.

and i think this should be moved to w&c unless some serious discussion emerges about the potential negative effects of using a knife-wielding psycho in the film's marketing and it's effects on ticket sales.

He's lost it!!

Just a city kid. Urban vermin.

I love the struggling rat.
Now what do you think of that?

He never tries to reach the skies,
He never sighs or alibis;
He always honors family ties --
He's better than a lot of guys
Who sneer, and then avert their eyes

As servants put out poisoned bait,
So much the working rat they hate.

Wow. This is the least sense you've ever made..

Your last two posts sound to me like you aren't thinking too clearly. Maybe it's the late hour.

Sure, let's move this to whiiiiinnne & cheese.

Am I speaking portugese? no i'm bloody well thinking clearly when it comes to what a liberal is. The extremes on both sides of the political spectrum converge at the same point. Wait, it wasn't the liberals, i know who it was who got them to change the poster, it must have been the Jews...

I'd rather there weren't pictures all over town depicting knives as violent weapons and knife owners as crazed killers...

allenC, you're such a bastard..... don't ever change! :)

Also, I was hoping this would spark a serious discussion about how society as a whole has become hoplophobic to an extreme degree. But.....

One of the most respected members on BF is singing about rats.

There's a misconception that perhaps it's a good thing that a knife is not displayed as a weapon. I have 2 problems with this:

1) I see nothing wrong with a knife used for legit self-defense, which means; weapon. Although highly controversial. It shouldn't be something to shy away from.

2) The convict in the film, like the others, is forced to fight for his life. He's not some psycho out to shank someone. The poster doesn't show him stabbing anyone. Just shows him holding the knife in a defensive stance.

One thing I forgot to mention, no one airbrushed out the part of the Ad poster in which another convict is bleeding from the head! And, he's beating the $#^T out of another convict!! That they left in! But a guy standing off to the side with a knife in his hand? Oh no, must not let the General Public or little children see something like that. But the convict bleeding from the head and mercilessly beating the $#^T out of another convict, oh that's okay.

On a final note: I don't want to see Cougar's Moving Van. I was hoping for a more serious discussion.

Thanks (I guess).

What does "hoplophobic" mean?
You know you can't use those big words on us southern boys. ;)

Allen,
Great pic. Do I hear whining in the backround .....
Please do not use any ammo on the rats ...... libs need comrades.
Take Care ....
