Pics of Machetes in Hardware Store in Costa Rica

You could set yourself up as an American importer, you'd probably sell a few around this forum for sure!
:D

That's a good point. It's funny how cheap I get when I'm there. You sort of get a feel for the local values and it feels like a lot paying $20 for a machete with sheath, and I think, why would I need more than one?
And I didn't even bring than one in the pic home! sigh

I need a coconut to open.

It looked like they had a Hudson bay knife shaped machete in the store photo. I would love one like that.

Here's a pic of the "machete de suelo", or ground machete from the IMACASA site. I'll have to try to get one of these weird shaped ones next time I go:

Not sure what it's for.

Costa Rican checking in here. I've seen those machetes used for working on garden edges and such.
"Suelo" = ground

Neat!
Kinda looks like a big distorted Nessmuk on steroids!

You could perhaps make some money distributing machetes. If you have an interest along that line, I'd focus on LEATHER SHEATHS. Leather products are pretty inexpensive in South America and I assume Central America. Get yourself a few "universal designs" to start, and price them right here. You would sell them.

Yes, Imacasa makes condor. Condor are the Imacasa on sterioids at a whole new level of quality and craftsmanship.

It cost as much to make the sheaths as the machetes.

The machete in my avatar is the New Condor CARBON machete. Not available yet, but it is truly the most amazing machete I have ever used.

Imacasa has been making machetes for over a century. They know what they are doing, and they do it well. Unfortunately, there aren't many distributors of Imacasa yet. There should be.

Doesn't really show in that photo but all of the ground machetes I've seen have a off set handle kind of like a giant pancake flipper. They are made for cutting close to ground when weeding crops, coffee, bananas etc. A fairly specialized kind of machete that doesn't haven many other uses.

Next time you go bring a spare suitcase (or buy an extra one there) and fill it up at the hardware store.
But when you head home don't forget to check your baggage!
:D
