It's a nice little knife, although it's not my most-used blade. I like forged blades like these, and I like the rough look of Perrin's work.

I think that its intended design is for self-defence, whereas I use it sometimes as a neck knife when hiking/canoeing. I found it less useful for carving or making feather sticks... the chisel-grind profile seems to grab into the wood. However, it's nice and sharp, and very well made.

I don't think it's the best pick for a small outdoors knife, but as I mentioned, I don't think that is its main intent.

Do you notice the difference in size between the two Benchmades when you use them and/or carry them?

Edit: The yellow and black handle folders in the lower right hand corner of the picture. Those are Benchmades, right?

Hi,

Yes... those are the Doug Ritter designed variations on the Benchmade Griptilian and Mini-Grip. I would personally find the larger one a bit big to carry in my front pocket daily, and it would probably seem a bit overkill for an office-type environment when I would occasionally have to open something. I think the size of the Mini-Grip is a more comfortable carry and less likely to raise eyebrows (also helped by the yellow handle colour on this one; there was a choice of yellow or black).

For outdoors, I always take the larger one.

How do you like the Dozier Folding Hunters compared to the Sebenza?
The Sebenza feels a bit more solid, but they are both so well made that it's very hard to pick between them. The fit and finish on the Sebenza seems to me to be as good as the customs. However, for me there's something about using a custom (the Doziers) that I like... knowing it was hand made by a skilled craftsman. Even more so for the stag, with its natural feel.

upper left?
The dark grey fixed blade at the upper left is a Chris Reeve one-piece hollow handle, the Mk VI

who put the edge/grind on the Khukri?? It looks almost mirror polished and razor sharp...
The finish on the blade is how it came from Himalayan Imports. I used a very fine sandpaper on a mousepad to sharpen it while trying to keep the convex edge. It was a bit challenging with the recurve... I didn't do a really great job, but it's functional. It's a great tool for getting rid of the dead branches at the base of conifers... we have quite a few in our back yard.
