I have just started making knives and am currently working on a 4" fixed blade. I know that I will keep this knife for ever just because of the sentimental value of it. Anyway, I was hoping we could start a thread with pics of all of your first knives that you probably still have. I'll get mine up when it is finished, but I am looking forward to seeing some others.:D

As I just posted on another thread, I started that one when I was 14, finished it when I was 18, still have it.

Looking forward to seeing your first!

I am really slow so I've only got a few done (But many in various stages)

This is the only one that I have ever gotten paid for- it is as ugly as hell, but that was how she wanted it to look- Walks Like an Egyptian Cactus

It does not really count (Fantasy Division only) as it was not heat treated steel, and not a very good design (although it would cut denim very well).

I actually consider this my first knife: O1 heat treated by Bryan Lyttle, stabilized swordfish (by Rob! @Ranger Original) and red vulcanized spacer material. Sheath is my design Fold Over Kydex (no rivets) with paracord decoration. Plaque is Pine, cut out and burned by my girlfriend, with inset Rare earth magnets. It was made a year late for a friends wedding (given to him last year- but designed by me for his Black Belt test) and now resides in his apartment in Korea:

Can you tell I'm proud of my first, even if I do not own any of them anymore- but they were appreciated where they went.

Be sure to post what yours looks like when you are done!

Here's my first.

I finished it about a year ago.

I gave it to my father.

4-1/4" ATS-34 blade, Desert Ironwood handle

1/8" 1075, 6" overal, convex scandi grind, cocobolo scales, nickle silver pins, heat treated myself.
This is my first, grinds didn't come out as even as I'd like, but the second one will be much more even. I intended it to be a user, ergo the natural patina, and no special mirror finish or anything.
ETA: I'm glad I posted these pics, 'cause I totally forgot about the scratches I put in the handle from by sharpening stone. I need to sand those out.

This was my first finished knife. Forged from a file. I forged alot of blades before this one but it is the first finished knife.

One of my first:
Recurve Hunter.
4.25" A2 drop point blade, 1/8" thick, oil quenched, double tempered, full convex grind, with flat secondary.
Stabilized Ironwood slabs, w/brass pins.

I'm amazed at how good your first knives look! Now i have a very high target for mine.:D

Lets keep the "first knives" pics coming. I'm really enjoying them.

I did a few kits before these, but these are the first I did from barstock and slabs to complete knife (sans HT).

I did a few kits The bottom blade here is the first one I started and I got it to about 95% complete, but the design is pretty much unusable so I don't consider it my first 'finished knife'. It is 1095 and mesquite with HT (and much encouragement) provided by a forumite on another forum, Mike Starling. The top knife is a 440C kitchen knife (HT by Texas Knife) with Micarta scales and ni-silver rivets. It has provided excellent service for a good while now and I consider it my first to be completed.

Then there is my first HT, someday there will be my first forged and first damascus, then maybe... Is there no end of firsts to accomplish!?!?:D

This is my second. My Son has my 1st but no pics.
