- Picture and Question About My Idea of a Knife

^ AWESOME minimalist knives on that dude's site. But I couldn't pay $250 for a little tiny piece of metal.

Just ran across one like that by Alan Folts. His is called the Baby Bear.

DING DING DING! We have a winner! That is the closest knife to my idea that I have seen. Thank you. But still, for the price of his I can have mine custom made.

you know that little protrusion on barber's scissors?

that might prevent the spin-thing. I think an opposing grip would be necessary, as pushing down with the thumb could pose problems should your cut abruptly slip.

So many of you have given me this recommendation.

My original plan was to keep the knife under 2 inches because that way I will never get annoyed by it hanging off of my neck which means I will never remove it. This knife will probably never be used and that is why it has such a minimalist design. If I ever get lost and need a knife the chances are that I will have a bigger one on me. This knife is my very utmost last resort and will likely NEVER be used. This is why I don't see it necessary to have that protrusion on it. I did a mockup out of 1/8 piece of hard plastic and it feels wonderful in the hand, my thumb is plenty enough power for a tiny blade like this.

What if, rather than a sheath, you had a flat "bar" to protect the sharp edge, that rotates around the outside of the finger-hole, so that when extended it would give an extension to wrap your hand around and run your index finger through the hole? No sheath needed while maintaining the functionality of your original idea but adding further control by putting a "handle" in the palm of the user...

Food for thought!!

I can totally picture what you are describing, and I think it sounds like a great idea! Though it would probably be a bit trickier to manufacture, I'm guessing.

Contact me via e-mail. I can do this for you.

We will need to rework the design a bit. I have made similar concept pieces and I can promise you, it will spin.
