.. I am from the UK and it is hard to get good knives over here. I live in brighton and the only knive widely available is the swiss army range..
.. IF you are lucky one camping shop sells the Whitby range, it is a company that imports cheep knives and cloned rubish, wobbly blades and the like.
.. There are good American knives about but that are over twice the price of the US eg Buck 100 £59 pounds = $110
Wow..:eek::rolleyes:

greebozz,

What about trying the "exchange" here at:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=672

Lots of fair deals there.. Just need to stay vigilant and check back often before they get gobbled up in rapid fashion..

Or there is the brand new "Sticky" right here at the top of this Traditional Forum for TRADES only. So if you have something worth trading, that may be an option.

ps<> I actually happen to have a very small variety of nice vintage, made in the U.S.A. folding knives for sale if you want a good solid user.. If you like, you may email me at: veritas.group@att.net and tell me what you are looking for, and I 'll give it a go and see what I can come up with for you to ponder..?

Greebozz, I can only agree with that. My employer buys Whitby and they
are garbage.

Have you looked at The Sheffield Shop? They have some nice folders.

Hi! I make a nice, simple slipjoint folder for $225 U.S. I just put up a rudimentary webpage to show some of the folders and fixed blades I make, but haven't an online payment method as of yet. Anyway, that's one of the reasons I joined up here. I thought I might try to sell some on here. The website is http://www.shadowknives.com/

Hi everyone, thank you for your helpful offers and suggestions, I am trying to keep a handle on any desire to buy too many knives. I aprecate the ones I have got. In regards to that original picture of the Puma, I have found a good substitute in the for of a good old fashioned Sodbuster. And an Opinel for wood carving, not very exciting but in England the playing field is very different, as all the lock knives are ilegal for everyday carry.

Nothing at all wrong with a sodbuster, or an Opinel. Good knives that have been doing the job well for a long time.

I think we all understand trying to hold back on buying too many knives. We just have a problem with what constitutes too many. :D Is there really such a thing?

Hey greebozz, they're NOT illegal. You just have to have a good reason.

For e.g, I usually have a Gerber Legend on me, which has a locking blade. But as I'm an engineer (& ex service engineer) & often on site the tool's really useful. So far no-one's had a problem with my reason for edc-ing it.
Except my wife, who reckons that I look like a dork with it hanging on the belt!
I also get asked to lend it out a lot around the office - although that wouldn't wash with the law.

Hi Freezergeezer you are quite right, as a camper It is one of the things I like most getting out my Buck 110 and various other knives and heading off the the countryside, knowing I am leagle. I like those Gerber multies they seem very well made by the way.
