Don Fogg gave two excellent demonstrations at Ashokan this year. The first was a forging demo, during which he forged a knife from round bar. In the evening Don gave a demonstration on his technique for hand finishing a blade. Below are some photos from those demos.

Watching Don was like watching Michelangelo work marble... completely effortless. A true master! Great pictures, Chris!
 
Don said that he doesn't like belt grinders, so he uses them as little as possible. I believe he said he rough grinds the blade and bevels, then goes to files, stones, and paper.
 
Don's a hell of a demonstrator and just a super person :thumbup: Thanks for the photo's, wish I could have been there.
 
Thanks for the pictures. You gave me an idea on using the two vise set-up for filing. I was thinking about how I was going to do that the other day.
