Pictures of Knives in Wood!

You have great taste in knives, I like just about every blade you post and I dont like most blades in general

Which sage is that?

Thanks! I appreciate the compliment.

It's a Sage 5 with the thumb ramp ground down, a radiused spine, a chamfered hole, and the bottom of the finger groove deleted. (Unlike some other models, the little prong that forms the bottom of the groove is 100% scale on the Sage 5.)

Much more streamlined, I knew something was different.

Did you use a dremel?

Only to start on the scale prong. The basic wood sanding wheel chews FRN fast so I gently touched it down to near where I wanted. Then I finished by hand with two grits.

I used some old cheap diamond plates to take down the ramp and crown the spine. It's funny. Using plates to round things is like the opposite of sharpening, purposefully varying the angle and making circular motions. I went a little at a time until it felt right, often while enjoying a cigar or a beverage on the porch.

Curiously, our local gray fox seems to be attracted by the sound this makes. I've also seen it perk up while using a diamond file to radius liners.
