Pictures of Knives in Wood!

Still trying to get over being sick but forced myself to go outside anyway.

Why not post the same pic in 52 threads? Are you not amused?

...just rolling in the aisles, my friend, though it certainly is a nice pic. 😉 Here's me, digging back into my old pic files per usual for stuff to post here...

Aside--I do really like what these Lynch clips did for my FRN Delica and Endura over the worn, black-painted originals.

Looks good to me. That blue contrasts nicely with the orange.

Yeah, I feel like either a Lynch or MXG clip is a mandatory upgrade on most Spyderco models. The exceptions are when they come with a good wire clip.

Thanks, man. I like wire clips too. I'm basically OK with many stock Spydie clips, but absolutely hate any of the painted black ones. They're just so cheesy and shortly end up all chipped and looking like sh*t. Actually the worst clips are on ZT's, mostly too short, black painted with a crappy white logo--YUK!

I've never been that concerned with deep carry--with the places I live and the work I do, I never really felt the need to hide my knife and there's usually a long-ass lanyard hanging off it anyway, but I've added MXG's to a fair number of my knives and am new to Lynch's, but absolutely love 'em. I wish one could find aftermarket clips in black oxide--absolutely a great finish that looks just fine weathered and worn. I've got lots of BMKs that came with that and have added their clips in that finish to quite a few of my Benchmades.

Deep carry isn't necessary for me but I've come to appreciate the pocket profile.

I agree on black painted stuff. I'm not sure of the exact coating but I appreciate the black-washed look. I don't know that I have it handy on a clip but here is an older picture of that kind of finish on a blade and hardware, appropriately on a tree for the thread.

Yeah, I really like that sort of finish too, much more so than black painted--paticularly on blades. I've either sold off or continued to baby my Benchmades with BK-designated blades as I hate to see dark/solid black scratched up or partially worn off. Their dark black CeraKote is tough, though, and I use my KSF exclusive Stryker in my regular rotation. My favorites are like you mentioned and include the Battle Black Firetac (it rhymes, too), pictured to get back on topic...

...along with the Blackwash'ed ZT0801 Rexford, which is a favorite pattern to boot.

I don't know what the underlying coating is on either knife, but the fact that it's subsequently bead-blasted or stonewashed makes the knives both attractive and wear-hiding. Back to clips, you'll see I got that f-ugly, stubby stock clip off the ZT, replacing it with an MXG that I like both for style and length, but it's black-painted and chipped right away.

Chronovore Chronovore , when we were back and forth the other day about blackwash and similar finishes, I kept thinking I had one more with that sorta palette. When I grabbed my MILK to carry today it came to me that it was my other CKF, the Anton Malyshev designed SSE right next to it in the Russian drawer. Though the blade is a more usual uncoated, stonewashed finish, the fluted Ti handles have the same look that we were discussing. I think there's just barely enough wood in these pics from about a year ago to keep me on topic....
