Hi all, I'm a relatively new member to this forum and I'm from Singapore. I am into flipper knives and I like to collect slightly rarer configurations of the knives that I currently own. I try to find knives that are different in some way or another from the mainstream crowd and so far, have been quite happy with some of the finds I've found on this awesome forum.

These are my top 4 favourite flippers so far. (I'm willing to trade the M390 S90 off for good custom flippers like David Mosier's, Hoback Kwaiback, Peter Rassenti Snafu, and Todd Begg's Ti Bodega), feel free to email me if you are interested. Otherwise, what are your favourite flippers?

Direware S90 (M390 blade):

Direware S90 (CPM-3V blade):

Shirogorov Cannabis (M390 blade):

Have a good day!

Congrats!!! Two very awesome knives with a third one on the way… They are basically customs, more custom than mid tech and very sweet knives. I really would like a shirogorov if I find one for the right price, really dig their pocket clips. I am on Direwares list already so that will be sweet when I get my knife from him. Got to love flippers.

Thank you for the comments, but I'm looking at even rarer configurations. Any suggestions/trade ideas?

I'f I had my choice, I would go with less common steels like SM-100 and Stellite 6K, but these are expensive and used mainly by custom makers in high end knives (like Mayo). I personally like ZDP 189 and damascus blades, like Damasteel. But M390 is a great steel; Benchmade uses it as do other production companies.

That Shirogorov is my favorite model. Very nice.

Can I ask if the difference between damasteel and Damascus steel is that damasteel is a mass produced version while Damascus isn't?

I suggest the following high-quality production / mid-tech models:

  • CRK Sebenza or Umnumzaan (with the former you can up the scale inlays or designs and choice of blade shape like Insingo and Tanto)
  • Mick Strider Custom SNG or SMF or PT
  • Hinderer XM-18 or XM-24
  • LionSteel SR-1 Damascus or TS-1 Damascus
  • Zero Tolerance 0777 Damascus or 0888

Damasteel is basically a swedish damascus company. It is made a differently than the stuff mad by guys like
Devin Thomas and Chad Nichols and with different metals. Like all damascus its main function is for aethstetics. But from what Ive heard it preforms pretty decently and my damascus sebenza does as well. Different patterns, different process, different steels, but its made for the same reason the look.

I really love a smooth flipper. Any recommendations? I heard from some others that a Hinderer isn't as good a flipper as a shiro.

hinderers dont even come close. Good custom flippers elishewitz, david mosier, les george, hoback, peter rassenti, mcginnis, graham, todd begg. curtiss knives, kirby lambert, ray laconico. And there are plenty more.

Any of the flippers cost about the same as a shiro m95? I want something less common than a shiro m95t in m390

yes depending if you get them from maker or dealer or secondary. almost all from maker have offerings 1000 or less. Secondary can get to 2k range depending on maker and materials. You also could try ferrum forge. He uses alot of premium steels.

Fellow Singapore knife collector here Froz - welcome to the forums!
