I have only heard his name ... spoken with reverence. Serious, touchy, and superbly skilled.

Kept this old post on my home system. Came from a 2002 post on pistolsmith.com:

There is museum in Elcho(?), Nevada that has F.Bob Chow's Gun Collection in it. I believe it is called the County Western Museum, not positive. Anyhow, if ya'll are ever in Elcho, check it out. It's a beautiful collection, and the rest of the museum is pretty interesting, also. The American Rifleman had a great article on him a good few years ago, if I recall. All the best. Joe

Joe means Elko, NV. I've never been to the museum he mentions -- but it is probably worth a stop. I've heard tales of pistols Mr. Chow accurized that were still putting up sub-1" groupings a decade later. In 2002, Mr. Chow was over 90 years old and reputedly still doing a little part-time coaching of pistol teams in the San Francisco area. Definitely what is meant by 'a living legend.'

Holy Crap!
What is that?!!!!

Did anything like this go into production?

What Scott didn't tell you is that he snagged that off fleabay for a song. That was just around the time I started getting interested in Busse, three years ago. I saw that knife and decided it was too focused for my needs. I had a delusion that I could only consider buying users. I have grown out of that phase.

The way I came to know of him is that woman I knew married a guy (Buddy) that held a few national records in silhouette. Bob worked on his match guns for years. So Buddy talked me into giving my Gold Cup to him to give to Bob. But as I said I came up short on having a hunk of history.:grumpy:

Well that may be why that Gold Cup is still stock. I can go to the range and say "Hey you know what.... Bob Chew may have touched this gun once... maybe" :foot: :foot: :foot:

Here are my oldest two. And guess where they came from?....Idaho.
