• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

MORE THINKING:

So a hand loop or sling makes a staff's use much easier since you don't have to grip to hold your weight, it's automatically transfered to your arm. What about a loop to hold the staff up though? Maybe it's overkill, but a second loop in the other direction could support the staff.

Version on left, bar just drops through hole in staff. Version on right, bar slid in from bottom and secured with a ranger band (bicycle inner tube) or rubber band. No nuts, and you could actually hook onto things.

At this point, I don't think I'll be putting a hook on my staff, but it's a neat idea.

CanDo, I want to personally welcome you to the 'think-outside-of-the-box' walking stick design society. :D

My stick(s) is (are) a work in progress. I'm experimenting with what can be done. I thought about drilling an angled hole (and wingnutting it) but I thought the acute angle might get caught up on something?

Also, I thinking about a slide-in/screw on/lash on spear head. Like I said, I'm just playing with ideas so far, but I'll tell you, last winter while hiking, it was the only dry place I could hang my gear when I wanted.

CLA Kris, thanks for your input. I really like the hook aspect, although at this point, I don't know what I'm going to settle on.
