This is my survival gear.

(Link removed due to updates in the kit. See post further down.)

It's not nearly finished, as though it is in constant development.

Anyways, this is what I bring into the wilderness:

-Steel string
-Some first aid stuff
-My field canteen (which, by the way, is equipped with a nice british camo. Just for style.)
-Waterproof matches (in the pocket on the canteen)
-My CRKT Bear Claw (razor edge), attached to field canteen with lanyard
-A H&K G3A3 bayonet with an m8a1 scabbard
-A Helle quick sharpener. ( I know this is torture to the knifes, but it's for the field.)
- My biking gloves (I never really use them for biking.)
-And, of course, the belt. A pistol belt. The canteen is atached to the belt with alice-clips, while the bayonet is atached with molle-things.

In addition to this, I allways bring a little tin-can with a bunch of other survival gadgets such as a pocket knife, tinder, fishing/snaring gear, et cetera.

I will switch the bayonet with a more suiting blade. I was kind of thinking about getting myself a Master Ultra Giant.

What does your gear look like? :)

(sorry if there is a thread like this from before. I couldn't find anything with the search thing.)

This sounds like a great idea for a thread, it's just too bad i don't have any pictures, i don't have much gear either. After my back heals up i'll be headin' out for some traveling/backpack/camping/hiking type stuff so i'll be all geared up. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures.

Picture doesn't work for me, but here's my modified SAS tin

I've also included some curved needles, and a small pencil sharpener for tinder, but that was since taking the picture.

the picture should work now. I imagine this thread could be usefull for ideas on what to bring in a survival kit. :)

Edit: By the way.. Where can I get the SAS tin? What is the size of the tin?

I found an interesting discount while at work today. It was a camping kit, including a knife, an axe, a multitool, and a compass. I thought "what the heck", and bought the damn thing.

The axe and the knife is in a "Ka-Bar next gen"-style, and looks really neat. It suits well with my other "Ka-Bar"-style knife. The have the same dimentinons, so I can use both the knives in the same sheath.

Have a look:

I know this sounds like alot but better safe than sorry. When I go for a hiking trip my pack weighs in around 70 lbs at start and lightens along the way.will post that list if anyone is interested.
I camp in western n.c. and northern ga and some in tenn. This environment requires a marine tuff cloth to protect carbon steel axe head and my pronghorn, however in rain and humidity I have had no rust problems and that says alot.

I gotta take my hat off to you Atlanta , not too many folks buy such an expensive knife (Ed Fowler Pronghorn) and actually use it.

I too think this is a great thread. I seem to learn so much more when I can see and visualize the information being provided. So that got me thinking. I have a website, and I have been purchasing a lot of new gear lately. Why not make a new page on my site dedicated to survival gear. This is just a start and I'm not even sure if it is working exactly as it should. I'm no web design expert. Check it out at:

I'll be adding much more when I get time and I would love some feedback positive or negative on how I can make the page better and more informative.

Nice kit, Atlanta!

Pastorsoup: Is that kit for sale? Or is it your personal survival kit?

Also I've been adding a few pictures to my picjar. Have a look:

I have added a magnesium firestarter, for safety. I also carry matches and a lighter in my small kit. I will finnish that kit soon, so you all can see! :)

This is a personal kit that I put together one piece at a time. Still needs some additions but it has the major items that I want. Thanks for taking a look at it. I know that someone will probably point something out that I should have and I welcome all the suggestions.

:)

By the way, nice pics InUtero, I wish I had a few more blades to play with!

Thanks you pastorsoup.. you've given me a few ideas to improve the layout of my kit..

In regards to the bag, I use a Level III Assault Pack with a hydration bladder. They're about the same size, and the price difference is huge. I also have a bunch of maxpedition, etc. Molle accessories..

Thank you for the link to Otterbox.. I've heard good things about them, and just bought a clear 3000 for my EDC. I chose clear because I'll line the inside with a camo bandana..

Oh, and Inutero.. is that a pair of Kabar NextGen fighters? What's the blade between them in this Image

HK2001, you are right about those prices! I've been wanting to put together several BOBs. One for the office, one to stay in the trunk of the car, and I wanted to put some together for family members. I'd say for that price, I just found the bag to house my new BOBs.

****JUST UPDATED THE WEBSITE SO YOU CAN SEE THE CONTENTS OF THE PSK DISPLAYED*****

They are not ka-bar, but they sure look like it. I think they are just as good as the ka-bar next gen. A little cheaper makes them easier to use ;)

The green knife is a bayonet for an H&K G3A3 rifle. Pretty rough blade, and sharp as hell. It's not very functional for cutting wood and stuff, but man, if I needed to hunt... I would use that one. The sheath is an M8A1 scabbard. It was actually a birthday present :)

You won't regret it.. Sportsmansguide has it in stock but it's $10 more per bag.

Cheaperthandirt also has a decent selection of MOLLE accessories, like Medic Bag Canteen pouch and holsters

This isn't everything, my pockets always have a few items. But if I step out of the door into the woods, this comes with me.

Cell phone on holster strap
Compass, Peak LED light, and 550 cord on rifle sling

Terrill,

First let me say that is one gorgeous pic. Your leather craft is top notch.

All you need to do is throw in a Sgt. Mike style PSK and your done.

Adam

Sgt.Mike was nice enough to make sure "I don't leave home without it". My wife quickly grabbed the kit he put together and now I'm putting together another.
