3/4 or 1 inch? Why not just do it in EMT and make it look good. They even make mandrels so you can bend pvc without heat. Might have been a maintenance guy... Sometimes they don't even bend the conduit. Just run a straight piece where there should be an offset.

I need to start taking pictures of all the hack work I come across...

3/4. I’m gonna say an electrician didn’t do it. There was either SO cord or romex inside of it, can’t remember.

I’ve used the slinky’s before for Pvc. Slide it inside of it then bend it like Emt
