Moderator, if I am asking this in the wrong place, please move it. The size limit for photos on this forum is 600x800. If you have pictures that are larger than this, is there a simple way to make them smaller? I have some pics made with a 8 megapixel camera that are too large for posting here.

Thanks Rob. Someone else just showed me how to do it with email also.

I am certainly no expert on this subject but I use Photobucket and select the size I want before exporting images to there.

I used to email them to myself and click on the function to make them smaller and then save them on my hard drive but when they are just thumbnails when posted on this forum. My hero Larry Hensley taught us the Photobucket trick. email him for details.

I preview the photo, click " email", click "small " on the size ,save the attachment, and then pull it out of documents with the "browse" on the manage attachments in the posting window. It sounds more complicated than it really is.The whole process takes maybe ten to fifteen seconds.

You can use Paint, witch comes with every version of Windows.
(I can't tell you exactly, how since my version is in Dutch, but try the option to make it smaller)

Google's Picasa will do it for you too. It's a little slow for just one picture, but you can do lots and lots of them at once- very fast.

Drag all your photos to the tray, click the "export" button, and set the size. It makes new copies at the new size, and leaves the originals as they were, where they were.

I use Windows Picture Manager. Click on Edit Pictures, then Resize. There's several standard sizes you can choose from, or you can choose a custom size.
It's simple, and you can edit multiple pics at a time.

What I was referring to is what Stacy said he does with the email thing, but maybe a little different. Send the email with the compressed picture back to me and then save to pictures and it will appear in there as a reduced size.
