PID target temp increasing

Anyone know why my target temperature would increase by itself as the oven heats up? I set it for 1475. After about five minutes the target temp kept creeping up until it was at 1495. It then held there. I'm stumped.

Hm...if you're using the programmable ramp/soak type it would be because your second step temperature is higher than the first, and the ramp time you entered would make it slowly increase from the temp at the first step to the temp at the next step over that ramp time. Say you have this

Step 1
1475F
5min

Step 2
1495
60 min

Step 3
1495
-121 min

This would make it ramp from 1475 to 1495 over a 5 minute period then hold for 60 minutes, then shut off.

If it's just a set point controller then I'm not sure why it's doing that...

Sweet! Glad that took care of it :) I honestly wish the interface was better but in the end, it gets the job done so whatever ;)

I also figured out how to set temps by adjusting the different decimal places and not scrolling all the way from 0-1900. 😁

I am seriously waiting for the next-gen computer chip controllers with near autonomous ability. Voice commands, pre-loaded info, and it can learn from the internet as well as your instructions. This sounds like Star Trek, but actually is something very much in the works currently.

"Computer"
"Yes?"
"Set HT parameters for 1095"
"OK, how about this program ( Displays ASM HT for 1095)?"
"That looks good, but make the austenitization point 1470F"
"OK, I'll make that change. Any other changes?"
"No."
"Do you want me to run the program now?"
"Yes, Run Program."

I do that with my phone now. I did change the name of my phone so instead of saying "ok google" i say "ok Jarvis".

I feel the same way! Recently I started building my 4th temp controller but this time I am using an arduino in hopes of being able to make a better UI. God help me, taking on even another project... I just can't help myself [emoji23]
