Pierce brosnan may be one of us...

Next to Connery, all other Bond's fade to insignificance.

I agree with that. I even like the elderly Connery.

Planterz, I suspect you hit the nail on the head. He either forgot (carry on), or was concerned about theft of a one of a kind knife. Whether he is a knife guy, who knows and who cares?

I do like to watch him in the volcano movie. I have watched that movie many times. Some things are unlikely, but it's a movie.

He may be one of us. Or, he may be yet another famous celebrity who thinks that because he is a famous celebrity, he isn't held to the same laws as the rest of us.

Come on, unless you've been living under a rock, things have been different since 9-11. And Brosnan has flown all over the world more than the rest of us while filming on far off locations. So, if anyone would be aware of the TSA laws, Brosnan should be. But it's amazing how many celebrities get caught with a no-no in their luggage, knowing it's going to be looked at. Are they idiots? Or do they feel that they are above whatever standards the rest of us peasants are held to?

I like Brosnan!

I think that Sean C. was the BEST Bond too. I love his work as an actor!

I liked and still enjoy all of the Bond movies. I had all of Bond books in the 60's.

My husband has the complete set of all of the Bond movies.

I saw my first Bond movie in the 60's (1963?)in an old fashioned movie house in Baltimore, Maryland.

I do not know if Brosnan forgot about his knife or not.

Some people think that they are 'Above the Law' and that goes for our own Law Makers and people in specific professions who enforce the laws too. NOT all of them but some of them.

I am glad that Mr. Brosnan LIKES KNIVES as I am for any other person in the world who likes knives too!

Personally, I think that IF more people had some TOOL on them for self defense or to STOP A CRIMINAL in action... it would be a much safer world when we travel on a plane, train, bus, trolley, subway or stay around our own home.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's into knives. I remember seeing him with a William Henry knife in The Matador, not to mention the stag fixed blade (think it was a Muela) in Seraphim Falls.

Couldn't quite tell definitively if the knife was confiscated from what the article said. Either way, pretty sure the consensus here is that we're all very, very comforted and proud of our peace-keeping and impenetrably securing federal agency that is the TSA.

(Think I broke my sarcasm thing)

The Seraphim Falls knife is a Muela Magnum 26, with a 10 3/4" blade and stag crown handle.

I'd forgotten that one. Easy to do, since the film was very forgettable. But I should have remembered the knife. 2 of them actually, one was fairly plain, but the other was one hell of a piece. MoP handles, damascus blade, perhaps mokume game (or engraved) bolsters, etc. Probably approaches or even exceeds 5 figures for a knife with those options.

Agreed! No Bond has combined the element of dangerous charisma with such effective dry wit as well as Connery. My favorite was Thunderball.

Actually, there are lots of celebrities that I've heard are knife people. I don't know if Brosnan is or not. But he's not alone in forgetting he has a knife at the airport. Look at all the TSA knife confiscations still, to this day, from 'ordinary people'. Maybe it's simply a case of forgetfulness as opposed to celebrity hubris. Maybe he's got a lot of stuff on his mind that to him takes precedence over the knife in his carry-on. Blake Shelton talked about TSA confiscating his favorite Case knife. He must be familiar with TSA knife laws, but simply forgot about it in his pocket or wherever it was.

I remember years ago seeing a pic or two of James Spader and Liam Neeson I think at the NY knife show.

I used to be a Liam Neeson fan, but after his anti gun comments, the heck with him. I'll net er waste another moment of my life watching anything with that hypocrite in it. He's as bad as Stallone, wanting strict gun control, but doesn't mind taking the huge money from violent shoot-em-up movies.

Google it and see what I'm talking about.

I wonder if is a fellow knife enthusiast?

Given his stances on other issues, it is unlikely that Brosnan thinks you should have a knife. Many of his ilk own guns and knives, and have armed security, but they don't think that we little people are entitled to the same pleasures. So perhaps we should not make too much of what Pierce Brosnan thinks.
