Jolipapa and I told you about this great knife-maker met during our trip in La Monnerie .
But I've realized that I have not created a thread to show his work.

In his Lab of La Clef des Champs Pierre Yves works following the local tradition of Thiers. He works at home for shops and bigger companies . He makes fantastic and very elegant Laguioles and some other models he created or ordered by other sellers .

Marvelous pics of magnificent knives. Thanks!

I have asked Monsieur Pierre Yves Joyeux, about having a knife made with horse hoof Âchillepattada Âchillepattada , alas, this was his reply -

"J'ai fait une fois un couteau avec un manche en sabot de cheval, mais le manche a été fourni par le client , et moi même je n'en ai pas, je suis désolé..."

I suspect then, that vous êtes le client. ;) Domage :( those are really beautiful knife handles. I have asked him to make me a more humble Aurillac. It will be lovely even if it does not make any clopping sounds. :) We have had a very pleasurable and extended exchange of emails. More as it happens. Thank you for introducing us to Pierre Yves JOYEUX.

Hello Ray,
I'm very happy to help Pierre Yves to be better known here. It's a very nice and well educated person.
I've sent the horse hoof to Pierre Yves for the Laguiole. It's a beautiful material but I have also to admit that it's a hell for a knife maker. To give it the shape it's hard but to make it keep the shape it's harder . And when the handle is as thin as what Pierre Yves makes ..it's worse .

But I have also to add the the horn used by Pierre Yves to make is Laguiole's handle is absolutely beautiful . So if you ask him to make a Laguiole with a grey/black horn, without bolster, you will a really beautiful knife :)
