Pierre Yves JOYEUX

An great choice Charlie! Beautiful horn, not easy to get these days. I love the old fashioned way for the pins and the slim handles make her very classy.

Indeed, choice horn. I'm interested by those 'Bird's Eye' type pins, they might be used especially on horn to counter potential cracking or flaking of the material perhaps? They look very effective too:cool:

Thanks, Will

Don't know, but it was frequently used on older patterns.

Wonderful knife, Â !! Pierre Yves outdid himself with the engraving!!
Some day that knife will be pictured in a notable Laguiole book!!

Hello Charlie, thanks you for Pierre Yves.
I have to say that Thiers has a traditional organisation, very specific. A lot of persons worked at home specialized in only one step of the fabrication. Pierre Yves is a " monteur à domicile" which means that is job is to put together the parts and finish the knife.
He doesn't engrave. For this he works with François Seychal who is a traditional engraver . He doesn't work with modern electrical tools but with his chisel/burin. It gives to his work something traditional and timeless I love .

Lookie what I have  :)
