Forged this blade last week. Wasn't sure what I had until I got it finished and then pigg sticker came to mind. This is the largest bladed knife I've done for sometime. 13 1/4" 1084 blade. I figured a blade this big needed a brain so I used a piece of osic for the handle. Wrought iron fitting with a peened tang. 18 3/4" overall.

That turned out great, Ray! The pointy blade reminds me of a Samuel Bell dirk and the handle says it's all Raymond Richard. Very nice. That one will leave Atlanta in someone elses suitcase.

I just hope it doesn't leave before I get my bags at the airport! :D Dirk did enter my mind when I first started putting it together but don't believe there any Scott in my blood but since my shop has turned into a pig peen I thought the name fit. I appreciate your comments!

Very nice knife; Some may not realize it but there are hunters who do hunt hog's with dogs and a "pig sticker". Conservation here has told everyone to "kill every wild hog they see" because of the problems they are creating. A friend goes to TX every year to hunt them and once he was setting up camp rifle still in truck and he grabed a hunting axe I had made for him. They were unaware that their camp was at the edge of the hogs den.

Far more here in NZ hunt pigs with knives and dogs than do so with rifles. about an 8 to 9 inch blade, generally a drop point with the first inch of the reverse sharpened as a false edge is favoured.
Our igs aren't as agressive as javelinas, but they're a damn sight bigger, and anything gets riled up if theres a couple of dogs hanging off it.

A design like that would sell like hotcakes in the hunting stores down here :D Nice job
