I sometimes take a pleasure in looking at Darrel Ralph's knives on his website.
(As I don't have the money to buy them I cannot choose but to look only :( )

I have noticed there ( http://www.darrelralph.com/1mainframe.htm ) this:
"Click http://www.darrelralph.com/video_pics/ddr_jp.wmv to see Joe Perry of Aerosmith proudly showing off his MADD MAXX II 7" on a television show."

I watched the video and the fool used such a wonderful knife to slice on dish. You can hear scratching!

Poor blade.

Don't you agree?

Whatever. It's his knife, so let him use it how he wants.
I'm just glad that a knife (of the same caliber as what I would choose to carry) has gotten some positive exposure, and on national television, nonetheless.

Don't know if it was positive exposure, but he's another who has used his knife to cut meat when eating out.

And it shows he has good taste in cutlery.

Rachel Ray is hot

that knife is cool

there was more interest in the knife than in the food.

As it should be.

Funny people don't care about the huge chef's knives but cringe at the sight of folders..... I agree with the above statement of Joe having impeccable taste in knives... did you see that thing!!! Beautiful.

Better to use and love a knife than let it sit in a drawer. They do sharpen up quite easily :) and yes Rachael Ray is HOT!

Nice knife. I hate Rachel Ray passionately and strongly disagree with the whole "Hot" bit... ::Shudders::

He cut something with a knife. Isn't that it's primary function? I don't see the problem here.

If it's because of the cost then that's relative as well. If someone makes 20k a year, 1k for a knife would be quite a purchase. On the other hand if someone makes 20k in royalties from a single song...I don't think a thousand bucks is much cause for pause.

I don't understand someone's aversion to actually using a knife. What's the purpose of all the discussion here about the latest and greatest steel if you're not willing to use it?

If you just want something that looks cool, but that you will never use, go down to your local truck stop and buy some of their cheapo knives...

Using the knife and abusing the knife are two different things.

Next time someone will drive the nail with loaded gun and you will be applauding for him proudly showing the gun :|

I wouldn't use KITCHEN (or any other) knives to slice on dish. It is awful habit. Btw for such things plank and setting were invented :p

I agree with huugh that cutting on a probably ceramic dish will dull a knife faster than cutting on wood or plastic, but after all, what's the usual dish made out of?

I wouldn't call him a fool. He simply didn't control every aspect of the scene, and knew his knife was of high enough quality to survive its designed use.

Thanks a lot for this post. I was doing just fine. No uncontrollable lusting after any knives and then I see that Arc Lite CF on D.R's. website. Oh, man. Thank God it's not available.

a gun wasn't made for driving nails, unless it is a nail gun.

a knife is made for cutting things. he cut food. the food was on a plate. I tend to believe if he knows enough about knives to purchase the particular one he carried, he most likely knows how to have the edge restored, and can easily afford it.

I did not know that cutting things was abuse of a knife. I always thought chopping cinder blocks, and stabbing car hoods was abuse, and cutting things was normal use :D

Cutting some sort of things is abuse. There is no abuse in cutting food ON dish, but it is abuse to cutting THE dish. It is completly the same as chopping cinder blocks, except you don't swing so much :p
(and cinder blocks usually aren't glazed)

It's a user, it will get dull. What if the guy relaxes by sharpening his knives? He obviously gets pleasure using them. Who are we to judge? I am just glad to see positive press.

I just thought it was cool that he was standing there discussing the Robo mechanism and stressing the fact that it's not a switchblade. Good press, either way. BTW, Rachel IS hot! Beautiful knife... Those steaks looked good as well.;)
