pilots survival knife

My dad gifted his from the 80's to me, it has seen a lot action over the years and still looks like a champ. Not exactly a thin bushcraft style of knife, but it takes and holds an edge relatively well. I really like the weight of it in hand, plus it sharpens easily with the stone that comes with it, overall a good buy if less than $50

I rehandled mine. I didn't do a great job and it's still better than the original. The guard is too long, the grip too thin and the hexagon pommel digs into the hand. Mine didn't come with much of an edge, either. I wouldn't recommend it. There are better knives out there for the money.

If you find one for around 20.00, then you are fine. Anything over that is pretty much a rip-off. I own two- the Ontario and Camillus model's (same design, different makers).
Bought them both from a surplus for $10.00 each. They take an OK edge. The thing is just too "chubby" for me.

If you can get into 'em cheap enough they're great beater knives. I have several, including one that one of our pilots gave me back in '68. (along with his Schrade survival switchblade). Easy to sharpen and tough.
