Pinch me, I'm dreaming. Just bought a digicam Para 2 at the local pawn shop.

Whoa where's this backlash coming from?
It's a used knife from a pawnshop. $100 isn't much lower than retail.
Sounds like I hit some nerves

Maybe you're just unaware of what a used Para 2 goes for these days. $100 is a decent price.

Well let's see...

Don't know if you ever worked or owned a pawn shop; I have.

Sometimes, good people come in that aren't strung out trying to pawn off so they can get more alcohol, sometimes they're friends, family etc and have an item of good value. Maybe the pawn shop had $90.00 in the knife, maybe the person coming in knew clearly what they had and the pawnshop knew hey, they hold value well. NOT everything in a pawn shop was brought in by cletus hemmingwaker waiting to take the kids to the carnival.

The nerves you're replying to are in response to you taking a crap on this guy's euphoria to feel better about yourself or queef ever so slightly because he didn't get it for five bucks. If you knew current market price you might know $100.00 for a clean para lightly used is awesome.... especially the added bonus of finding it conveniently sitting in front of you when least expected.

Surprises and the elation are some of the best part of the hobby.

Don't overpay too much though guys. We're talking about the standard versions. Just let one fall on your lap like the OP or wait it out and get it through the dealers at Spyderco's intended prices for them. Just enjoy the knives that you do and can have for now.

Wise words.

Nice find....

Thanks man! Good to see you!

The last used Para 2 Digi Camo's sold on ebay for $187 and the one before that sold for $150, but that was on an under market priced buy it now purchase. Yeah, I think he could flip it and come out ok, even after fees and shipping. The original poster should be elated he picked up a cherry Para 2 for $100 and those that think he overpaid are simply under informed about the current supply and demand for Para 2's. I think those people are crazy to pay that much given that the supply issue will eventually be resolved, but that is the current market.

The important thing is, you got a knife you wanted, that's in short supply.
Pm2 are great knives, well worth the money you paid. Congrats!

You have a very intense way of looking at things

Anyways, there is no means to insult TC. He now has a great knife and he's happy.
Maybe I should've elaborated on what I meant by expensive since there are so many interpretations you can make, but I am not unaware of the exchange prices for this knife.
Obviously today a Para 2 can fetch a high premium for the production models if you're antsy.

Anyways, no ill meanings towards TC :)

I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't a good price...it is, it's just the standard price. I wouldn't feel like I got a smoking deal if I bought something for the going price before demand drove the price up, I'd just feel like I didn't get ass raped on the price like everyone else is.

You're one of those glass half empty guys, aren't you? (Just kidding, that is a valid observation. Just don't rain on his parade, man!)

Perhaps I should clarify WHY I thought the price was so great. The price sticker said $149 and I got it for $100. Any other clerk would have quoted me a much higher price. But, the main reason I was shocked was finding a Para 2, at a internet price, in a pawn shop.

Oh, BTW. I am still loving it! What other knives have the compression lock?

Ya know, the fullness of the glass is dependent on the state of the glass. Is it being filled or being emptied? If it's being filled, then it's half full. If it's being emptied, then it's half empty. ;)

Well now when you put it that way, yeah you got a good price from the guy apparently. I guess either price is pretty well below the $185 MSRP.

My local shop has a CTS-20cp Para 2. I really need to go get it. For $170 too. Haha

Now THAT is an amazing price, since it's $10 cheaper than they were when they were new, and that knife is discontinued. You're insane if you don't jump all over that.

LOL I agree. Mainly because I've had a couple of standard Para2's when they were readily available and so I wouldn't overpay for one now. I assume that most of the folks who are willing to go high on the price are the ones who haven't owned a standard Para2 and are all bent out of shape to get one (we have all been there with a coveted knife of course).

I hope all of you get Para2's at sub $100 prices soon. It's easily one of my favorite knives but paying $150+ for it is absurd. Look at the exchange, you get to see who among us are taking advantage of the situation. To each his own of course, but not my style.
