Pinchable traditionals...

Many Spanish knives (Aitor Castor, Pallares Solsona) have a leaf-shaped blade where pinching is your only option. In fact, any knife with a fish-tail or curved and tapered handle is a good candidate. The Opinel no.8 garden knife is one example, as are the Rough Rider large toothpick and Cold Steel Kudu. Svord peasant knife will pinch open, as will the Higo No Kami. Either of these friction folders will also open quite easily with the tang; no fingernails are necessary.

If you like an updated take on an old pattern, that's a lot of bang for the buck, I'd recommend the AG Russell medium Barlow. With a little practice you can open it one handed with your thumb. I love this knife!

I enjoy pinching open my blades. I also enjoy stronger pulls. 73s in drop point or Spey can be pinched open once you established patina. Same with 54 blades if you like. My 2 cents are that long pulls are classy and can be pinched if high riding. Tidioute's with their subtle swedges make superb pinching knives where the beautiful swedges of some Northfields fight you in pinching until you have a good patina- this must stifle the surface and create extra grip. Kickbacks from GEC are lighter pulled where linerlocks seem to be the same pull weight. I have no clue on the bull lock 23s. Seems like they're quite pricey lately anyhow. Enjoy whatever you pick up!

Canal Street, who's no longer in business, had a single blade lock back they named the "Pinch". Nice knife with a D2 blade, if you like that steel. They're still around on some dealer sites.

Good suggestion. That AG Russell lockback Barlow is a fine knife, especially for the price! I would also say that lockbacks in general are more pinchable than their slipjoint counterparts, as there's less resistance when opening (so you don't have to have as much blade to pinch).

Check out Opinels. Carbon steel on many models; ring lock (which can be removed) and easily made into an easy opener with a Dremel rotary grinder or round file and sand paper. Also very inexpensive.

I have a cigar box full of them, nor really what I am talking about. Not afraid to spend a few bucks, I carry a van heerden/Bharucha M44 most of the time. Looking for nice, solid and attractive and pinchable, just like my woman...
