An Eastern Eyed Click Beetle resting on a log. He's just shy of 2 inches long.

Worn out Redneck, just shy of 75 inches tall. The sheath I made worked out very well.
I will replace the belt loop with a sewn loop instead of the snaps, and a leg strap is a must.

The trail.

I think this is a Fence Lizard, but I can't tell for sure.

Southern Toad - He was up near the top.

I'm guessing this is whats left of a possum. Edited to add. Foot structure looks more like a coon.

Dinner plate size shroom.

I turned on the GPS on the way back down, so I could download the track to the laptop.

Elevation change on the downslope track. The trek up was a little shorter, but more vertical.

Thanks Mrs. S.

The camera is a Cannon Power Shot. It's got 9mp & 10x zoom. It's actually a company camera that I use for documenting things at work. I get to use it for fun too, but I may have to buy it if I ever mess it up. Wouldn't be the first time. LOL

Great pics John! What kind of GPS do you use? I'd love to get one of those things one day.

The GPS is a Garmin Vista HCx. It does way more than I need, but it's fun to mess around with.

I was trying it out, cause we were expecting rain. We didn't get the rain till late evening but man I wouldn't have wanted to be up there when that storm hit.

I think I'm more of a baseball cap kinda guy. Besides, I kept bumping into stuff with it.

Johnspark on your location is that the Paulding Forest in Dallas,Ga?

Yes that's right. You close by?

Cool pics. The hat's awesome. The click beetle's wierd. The lizard's a fence lizard, I'm fairly certain.

I got a picture of another one yesterday. I still can't be certain of the identification.

Also, I think the skeleton is a coon and not a possum. The foot structure is to narrow for a possum I believe. If anyone knows for sure let me know.

I live in NE Paulding, used to live on Braswell Mtn Rd.....You familar with an old plane wreck in the Paulding Forest??

I haven't seen that yet. I've hiked the logging roads and trails off Braswell Mtn all around Racoon Creek and up to Sheffield WMA. I've just started exploring around the Goldmine lake area. Do you have a GPS location on that wreck?

An Eastern King Snake I scared up while mowing the yard today.

Still unidentified lizard. I think it's a Fence but I just can't say for sure.

My Great Niece playing with the Izula. She's a RAT fan too!

Great snake pic. I love kingsnakes. The eastern king seems to be a bit more high strung than other species, though. I've had three different ones, and all three bit me more than once. Never been bitten by another species of king though. I still agree that the lizard's a fence lizard.

I had a couple of Pythons that I was "Snake Sitting" when I was in High School. They stayed at the house for a couple of months. I got to feed them live rats a couple of times before they went back to the owner. That was quite cool, in a crushing, eye bulging, fat lump in the gut, sort of way. LOL
If I were to bring a snake in the house now, there are 9 levels of hell that would be more tolerable than the fury I would receive from the Mrs.

We'll go with the Fence on the lizard. There must be a local/seasonal color variation that doesn't follow the norm.
