Pine Mountain Hike

Watchin em eat is fun isn't it? I'm fortunate that my girlfriend doesn't mind snakes. She doesn't like them as much as I do, but they don't bother her. If you really want a definitive answer on the lizard, post pics in the Wilderness and Survival Skills subforum with the title: Joezilla, what is this lizard? That'll be like sending up the Bat Signal, and you should have a response within minutes if he's online.

I haven't seen that yet. I've hiked the logging roads and trails off Braswell Mtn all around Racoon Creek and up to Sheffield WMA. I've just started exploring around the Goldmine lake area. Do you have a GPS location on that wreck?

Negative, I heard about it but never saw it. I do know where there are some mines in the WMA near Goldmine Lake.

Darn, you had me fired up there for a bit. My son and I have explored one mine out there, but it's really pretty small. They have filled in most of the tunnels. I posted a trip report on it in this forum a while back. I'll see if I can dig it up and link to it later.

Do you hunt the WMA. I'll most likely give it a try next deer season.

Took me long enough to stumble upon this glorious thread. Alas, question answered in another post, but wow what a great thread! Thanks for posting this !!!!!! Great hike!

Cool picks bubba John. I need to get out there and go hiking. These days I've been concentrating too much on my fishing to do anything else. I'm going to pick up a new inflatable this week and hitting the Chattahoochee and Lanier this weekend as much as I can.

Mrs. Spark and I are gonna hit the Etowah on Saturday. We'd love to have you and the Mrs. along. I have an extra yak if you need it.

I'd love to bro, but unfortunately Saturday is a work day for us. Our weekend is Sunday and Monday. Thanks for the invite though! Probably better off anyways. I can't kayak worth a crap. My body isn't built for stability in one of those Dylankillers. I keep trying to get out on the lake on one now that the weather is warm and see if I can get any better at keeping upright in them. I know it's just a mental thing I have to get past and then I'll be more stable, kinda like riding a surfboard.

Edit: I'm hell on water in a canoe though!

That's the same mine I found during squirrel season several years ago. they are several more small ones within close proximity.
