The scales on my Pingo was changed from FRN to racing technology honeycomb and nanocyl composite scales. Thread here for those interested:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ade-handle-for-my-PINGO-knife?highlight=Pingo

In what I believe to be its final incarnation, the Pingo now has gotten washers, a homemade anodized titanium clip and a sand treated dull blade. The latter as I'm not really a polished blade kind of guy.

The edge was of course dulled from rolling around in the zircon sand, but after a session with the Lansky Diamond Sharpening set, its now again sharper than a sharp thing from Planet Sharp.

I immensely enjoy the look. Others may not. I accept that opinions may vary:thumbup:;)

Love the look. I thought about getting a Pingo and trying to put thumbstud in the hole, but I think it is beyond my capability. Pingo is the only Spydie I really love. Although Spydies are starting to grow on me.

Excellent work. The scales look fantastic and the clip looks great. Don't understand the attraction of stonewashed blades, they remind me too much of the galvanized steel garbage cans of my youth, but to each his own.

Thanks for the kind words all.

Thank you. Always nice to hear different opinions:thumbup:
The blade finish: Opinions will vary. As I mentioned, not all will like the look of the blade in its current configuration and I hope Sal will forgive me, for what I have done to his knife:o ;)
The Pingo is just such a nice little user and I cant help messing with it.
There are advantages to blades polished to a high gloss and without having delved into the matter/without having been interested enough to actually poll knife users, I suspect most knife buyers prefer polished blades on their knives.
I like the business-like brushed or blasted look ..., but thats just me.
People are of course free to buy knives with the finish they want and I realize, that I might be in the minority on this one.

Great work again. Love the look. I hope Spyderco is paying attention to these mods (there was another really nice mod posted here a couple of months ago), and that they come up with a version of their own soon.

Thanks.
Sal has seen it in the first transformation (link in OP) and commented on it.
Dont hold your breath for a Spyderco version:)

Looks good man.
Thanks, man:thumbup:

Very nice. Can I have it? Lol.
I love it. =] Very nice work.
:thumbup:Thanks and no!:thumbdn::p
But you can make one yourself (link in OP):)
A personalized chick blade, if you will!:D
PS Neat, that you are named after my favourite folder! (777).

Very Cool little knife. I've been debating getting one. I love the scales initial. Great job!

Absolutely gorgeous knife. If it only had a thumbstud it would, to my eye, achieve perfection. But as a spydie, it is perfect as it is.

Looks great. The scales are amazing.

How did you get that finish on the blade? Tumbled in zircon sand? It has a bit different look from most of the stone-washed blades I've seen. Looks like a more even finish.

Your making me get a Pingo fine:D
:D

Thank you very much.
I like OHO knives as much as the next guy (though I prefer Spydie holes and flipper mechanisms (a la Southard) over thumb studs), but that is a moot point in this case, as the Pingo is made for the knife buying citizen in Denmark where OHO knives are frowned upon i.e. are not legal.

Thanks. Im very satisfied with the result myself. The knife is a joy to use. The mods works fine.
Yes, the knife blade was put in a tumbler and Zircon sandwashed.
It has a nice gun metal grey slightly mottled surface.
I dont know, how others achieve the grey finish, but you may be right; some other knives have a more rough finish. This one is very nice - both to look at and handle.

That looks great!
Thanks:)

Bladescout, your Pingo looks fantastic. I like everything you did to it, especially the scales and pocket clip.
